if these two players are available............where abouts in the team do they play ???
because it looks like the two central midfield places have been well and truely taken

Howard is considered to be our best player
While Leon got man of the match against Coventry and according to Birmingham fans is the only player of quality we have got
(PS........dunt say put one or more of them on the wings cos that has been tried and it dint work)

So its a................. (dunno) (dunno) (dunno) (dunno) (dunno) (dunno)

Unless of course we go 4-5-1

Leon may have played well

But De Silva/Howard is a partnership that not many teams will better this season. Leon's been playing well, but his lack of pace and strength means that we can be carved right open at times.

Disagree. Leon can THINK quicker than the rest can RUN.

As Bill Shankley said about someone famous or other "he runs the first five yards in his head"

Maybe so

But I still think we're more solid with Howard there.

When he's up for it !

Hard to disagree.

Blessed with two (at least) class midfielders. And we're still pants. :)

We will always be "pants", whilst everyone, including the manager, thinks that Howard is a must in the midfield.
Please don't talk to me about all his goals. If you take the penalties away, he doesn't actually score that many and don't tell me that no one else can take penalties because that isn't true.

I'm not talking about his goals

Leon provides absolutely nothing defensively - far too strong and no pace. I know Howard isn't the best at defending, but he gives the midfield some bite and puts the opposition under at least some pressure.

I presume you meant not strong enough.
I'm sorry, but I don't see this "bite" you talk about. Where exactly does he give the midfield any bite.
My recollections of his "defending" are that generally he puts our defence under more pressure than the opposition do and then stands around waving his arms and shouting at everyone else when things don't go his way.

Are you suggesting that Howard never gives the ball away, or never loses it because if you are, you must watch different games to the ones I watch.
Incidentally, I've watched Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Paul Scholes, even Deco and they all, on occasions, either lose or give the ball away. Would we not pick any of those before Howard either?

Goalkeeper (am not even gunner try going there)
Defence (wouldn't suggest players for these positions with a barge pole) (yikes)

Hume.............. De Silva / Colace...............Leon..................Heimour / JCR
...................................................Howard..............................................

...................................................Macken.............................................

ie.............4-5-1

I've been thinking

But in saying that................no matter how much effort you put into trying to work out how Barnsley FC can improve........ultimatly your efforts have been worthless and wasted because its SD that finally makes the decision.

But if I was SD I would have Colace or De Silva in there to win the ball and Leon there to release players by his passing ability

we can't sell howard if we don't get a bid, and if we don't get a bid

then in my opinion he would always play.

not saying get rid of Howard...........while writing this I've come to the conclusion

that Leon should stay in midfield because of his ability to bring other players into the game and also play Colace and/or De Silva at the side of him when they are ready to play

And................Howard should be tried further up front in what is called the 'hole'.
Lets see if Howard can be our 'Phillips', the player with the bit of guile to unlock defences
