What's everyones take on the stories linking Wakefield Trinity with Oakwell, as their potential new stadium, once they leave Belle Vue? Good or bad move?

I'd love it for if Hull KR ever played here :)

I don't mind aslong as it's worth it for us financially and the pitch doesn't end up too chewed up.

Have had a look at the wildcats forum & they think a ground share with Dewsbury is likely, Oakwell not mentioned.

    It would ruin the pitch

bad idea IMHO. Cardiff City let Cardiff Blues share their ground, not anymore as it ruined the pitch.

The pitch isn't good enough to have regular Rugby on it, we would need to upgrade our pitch to cope and that would be an extra million quid. It will never happen.

Currently paying Fev Rovers 50k per year to use their training facilities. They won't ground share with Fev though as they fear if they do Wakefield Council will see it as a viable permanent option. So moving to Dewsbury and Kirklees was seen a better option.

Wouldn't be be surprised though if Oakwell was considered as the Dewsbury ground is pretty small and probably not big enough to accommodate the better supported teams in SL

btw Rugby probably does less damage to the pitches as Footy now it's played mainly through the summer

Doesn't playing during the summer stop the football club from doing vital maintenance work though?

As long as it doesn't look like an open cast mine after they've played on it they're welcome to use Oakwell for me.

dont know but I went to Huddersfield on Sunday which has Rugby and Football all year round and the pitch was in Fantastic condition.

saying that look at any Rugby Leagilue pitch this time of the season and they all look great. It's a bit of a myth that they ruin the pitches

I don't think it's so much that they play rugby on it that ruins the pitch as it is just about the pitch being used twice as often regardless of the sport. Though to be honest the one thing I hate most about rugby clubs playing on football pitches is the extra lines everywhere.

They'll be playing Super League next season so they need to be in a decent ground. Can't honestly think of anywhere else near Wakey that meets the requirements. Doesn't mean I agree though.
