Am going to Wakey in a couple of weeks for a night out, its been a good few years since I was last there and a quick google throws up names such as Escobar, Zeus and Pink Lizard...!!!

Any recommendations from some seasoned drinkers...probably starting in Six Chimnes and working up Westgate...

    Cheers... (raiseaglass)

That's my favourite haunt when out there. Plays ya good indie music mainly. People bum Quest, but I think the place is overated personally.

All the best boozers have gone

Full of those bars that don't really know what they want to be, with stupid names too, like "bar chocolate", "bar juice", "bar office".

It's still a fun night out, but Wakefield isn't what it was a few years ago when I was drinking there 8 days a week! (and a few years before that as well)

You can't walk up Westgate from the 6 Chimneys though mate, you can walk from Kirkgate into town though?

Personal suggestion would be go from 6 chimneys into town, go towards the Bull Ring and have a beer in The Gate, then towards Westgate stopping at Black Rock, Black Swan then into the centre for your lively bars like Flares or Reflex, each to there own though.

Worked there for a few years. Lovely pub, but they've let it go to pot from the outside. Looks really shabby. We'd go on from there to Raffles up on Cheapside - upstairs obviously. Downstairs meant a guaranteed glassing, then a shoeing from Big Kev and the other bouncers for breaking one of their glasses with your face.

Casanovas/Rooftop Gardens was good for a laugh, especially Thursdays, when you'd have to be clinically dead not to get a shag.

    RE: Black Swan

Used to go in there on Saturday night. Started at Central Park and worked our way up, Woolpack, Bitz, Swan etc etc. I dont recognise most of the names now.

If we go into Wakey now its down to the Redoubt for some Taylors and off for a curry.

Yes, you had to have a snake bite to make it taste a bit better. But we still drank it.

yep, I remember the 2 for 1s, we used to get there about 7, and spend everything we had on pernod and blacks (dunno why), used to do about 10 in an hour and I was about 16 at the time (puke), mere smell of pernod is enough to make me gip now. Then The Gents (who remembers them) would go on stage and the rest is a haze.
