Last night I watched the channel 5 highlights. Walsall scored some cracking goals and hit the woodwork with long range piledrivers. Almost like watching the dutch teams of the '70s They were helped by Port Vale not closing them down and letting them shoot. Hopefully our midfield have been watching and wont allow them the same time and space Its a shame Donny didnt manage to nick one against Burton they would have been a much easier opponent.
Bradford rolled them over easy enough. Our defence has been playing well & as long as we close them down from the front we'll be OK.
Previous form won't count for much in these sort of games, but (and it's a big but), I watched their game against Fleetwood last Monday and thought they were poor. Fleetwood ran them ragged for long spells. Walsall 3-0, nailed on.
TBH I think over 2 legs they're wont be a *** paper between em, both play better away from home and have match winners. Whoever goes through the others will run em close May even go to pens...
They did look good when faced by an uninterested Vale team who applied no pressure on the ball. They were shooting for fun. They won't get that much time and space against us
I don't think we need fear anyone in the Play Offs. By all means respect them, they've certainly earned it, but not fear them. We've kept our great post-Christmas run going (losing just three games in twenty seven league and cup matches) right to the end, despite losing four players through injury in the closing stages of the season. I'm proud to be a Barnsley fan just now, all thanks to the owner, board, staff, coaches (especially Hecky) and this group of players. They're not perfect (none of us are) and will make mistakes from time to time. But they've shown again and again, they get things right far more often.
Arie Haan. I think that's where i got it from, if I'm honest.
Since our season changed when Hourihane equalised v Sheff Utd we've lost our manager, Reece Wabara, Kevin Long. Aidy White and James Bree to injuries. Adam Hammill for a few games to firstly injury then a red card. Our top scorer to injury for a spell. Ashley Fletcher and Lloyd Isgrove for games due to international call ups. We've had a midfielder playing at full back, a right back from non league playing at left back and a central defender who played non league last season. Yet we've lost only 4 games, won a trophy at Wembley, and gone from bottom 4 to top 6. I think other teams ought to maybe be a bit concerned at playing us. We aren't here due to luck.
I know what you're saying but tbf the 2016 style would have made us Champions and we have scored plenty..only Wigan have scored more
