Don't take up the offer - I thought it would do what it advertised i.e. make it quicker and easier to use the computer. What it actually did was change a load of setting so I could not access files etc.
Changed mine over. Absolutely fine and much better than Windows 7. Have you done something wrong during installation?
Upgraded 2 Win 8 machines, no problems. Quite happy with my 2 Win 7 machines, so I'm leaving them alone.
I've had no issues on three machines - one Windows 7, and two Windows 8.1's. Certainly not had problems accessing files. The one thing I do recommend is changing some of the default security settings.
TBF, I'd say Linux all the way, but I'm a little scared of using that as my main machine (I will lose something).
I did mine and it went loopy, until I discovered that it doesn't like some anti-virus programs. I was using AVAST, but I uninstalled it and since then Windows 10 works perfectly. Windows Defender is perfectly adequate (in my opinion) for virus protection provided you don't intentionally click on dodgy links in emails "to see what happens".
It's been bang on to be fair, probably the most reliable a new release as they've ever done Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm wary. I've had loads of problems with my Lenovo laptop and it's been back to Curry's umpteen times. It's a power saving problem, which causes it not to come out of standby at times. The general consensus has been that it's caused by certain Windows 8 updates and I was told to try changing it to Windows 10 when it was available. However, it's been behaving itself for the last couple of months.
I've just been playing with a Surface Pro 3 with Windows 10 for the last couple of weeks. Just wondering if I should replace my now nearly three year old Mac Book Pro with a surface 4 or other windows device. I really think Windows 10 is pretty good and think I might make the switch. (Not bought a windows laptop for about 8 years)
I just can't get on with Windows at all. 10 mins with are lasses and I want to sling it at the wall. Nowt to tempt me going back. I'm an apple whore now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Trouble is most people comparing Windows to Mac will be doing so on some sh*tty £300 (if that) laptop...and yes the experience is pretty rubbish when you consider a lot of these cheap ones even have a touchscreen these days - obviously something has got to be compromised here so you end up with a cheap and slow CPU and generic RAM which causes them to crash. Get in to the mid to high range and the experience is pretty flawless, but of course not a lot of people do because then you're getting into the price range of a low end MacBook Air so many will opt for that these days. I play Football Manager and mess about with videos an photos on my PC, even the highest spec consumer Mac is slower than my PC so there really is no incentive to use one full time as it would be much slower in comparison.
