Since when have we needed to know that a film about boxing contains "scenes of sustained boxing violence"??

I'm sure it's something that we've copied from the U.S. I & hate the way that we seem to be allowing ourselves to become more Americanised each day.

All we really need to know about a film (not a movie) is what it's rating is & a general idea of what it's about. I'm sure we're all able to work the rest out for ourselves & anyone thick enough to go & see a film about boxing that claims to have been traumatised by what they saw should be put down for their own good!

& don't even get me started on the stupid warnings on certain products!

    Rant over.

    "may contain traces of nuts"

I don't they actually have that yet but I agree about the way we're going in this country it won't be long. What I don't like is the warnings on food about salt, sugar etc. People know a burger's got lots of fat or whatever in it but they still eat it. Fat Americans might claim they're fat because they didn't know a "Twinky" is full of sugar I suppose. :pff

    No word of a lie

On the cartons of Tesco's milk, quite apart from being labelled perfectly clearly as being milk carries the following allergy warning:-

    Contains milk (doh)

avoids people taking them to court I think, like if some stupid idiot is lactose intolerant drinks some they can blame Tesco. Bit like those fat Americans. People just like to blame someone else for their own stupidity - just like it's the council's fault if you fall down on a pavement.

I like the "contains scenes of mild peril" - whatever that is!

You should listen to Mark Kermode's film review on Radio 5, he mentions these.

I thought I was exaggerating the problem :D

can't believe it actually says that on a packet of nuts. I'm sure it's all about avoiding law suits.

    I think my personal "favourite"

Was "contains 1 example of strong language"!

Can't remember the film but what is the world coming to when we need to be told that a packet of nuts actually DOES contain nuts & that a film about boxing will have scenes of people punching each other in it??

On a slightly different note, & I'm not sure if this is a shaggy dog story or not. As I was driving to work the other day, I heard the radio presenter say that he'd had an e-mail from a listener saying that he'd been bought a pair of magnetic slippers for Christmas. Somehow, the soles are magnetised so that you can fasten them to the radiator so that they're warm when you come to wear them. On the box it supposedly said "Remove from radiator before wearing"

    Quality!

I was laughing about attaching them to the radiator to warm up (good idea) but even more so by the next part!
