Portsmouth have reportedly offered Neil Warnock the chance to replace Alain Perrin.

The Sheffield United manager is the first option for Pompey chairman Milan Mandaric and sources on the South Coast claim he will be invited to discuss a three-and-a-half year contract at Fratton Park.

Warnock faces a major dilemma as he has steered Sheffield United into a promising position in The Championship, as they lie in second place in the table - nine points clear of Watford.

Sky Sports News also believe that Mandaric will consider a sensational return for Harry Redknapp if Warnock decides to remain at Bramall Lane.

As previously reported on skysports.com, the Pompey players are thought to be behind any move to reunite them with their former manager, who left acrimoniously and ended up along the South Coast at bitter rivals Southampton.

Despite constant denials from Redknapp, it is rumoured that he could be persuaded to return to Portsmouth after making his peace with Mandaric.

Portsmouth are keen to have a new man installed before their Premiership clash with Tottenham on December 12.

Joe Jordan took temporary charge of the side for the 2-0 home defeat to Chelsea following the sacking of Perrin.
