I go on a cricket forum, and a bloke on there whose friend works in a coffee shop in London that Neil Warnock goes to says that Warnock was offered the job last week if he wants it. True story. If that isn't a reliable source then I dunno what is.
I pray it's true. He's the most boring, uncool mother on the planet, but he would keep us up. (His audiobook biography is the best cure of insomnia I know). The fact is he is a brilliant manager. Great with young players. An ex Red. & Out of Work. One last Hurrah. Personally favour him over Wilson or any other aged pro. Otherwise Phelan or Jesus Christ (if either are interested).
Exactly. Hardly publishing his memoirs. Warnock did a great job at QPR, as he has done pretty much all his career. He wouldn't know who Arcade Fire were, or probably the Clash. He is a bore. But very good manager. Anyway, he would say no when the money was offered likely.
He hates us even though he played for us, so no ta., unless he wants to proove himself a hypocrit. I heard we were getting Windass....
don't agree with that at all.In every interview I've seen, Warnock has always praised us,even when he's been on the receiving end of a defeat.
Yes, you're right dek, Warnock always says that his time at Oakwell was one of the best of his playing career. I watched him play when I was a young lad. Hard working, combative midfield player (12 goals in 63 appearances in the mid 1970's).
he's as hard working now when he's got a job to do.I don't think we'd go far wrong with him. however, like I've said in another post,i've a gut feeling Wilson will get the job.
I actually quite like Warnock. He calls a spade a spade and talks a lot of sense. But for some reason he's not very popular, either in the media nor with a lot of fans. Perhaps he's too outspoken?
I heard it ws going to be Mark Mcghee/Kevin Muscat deam team taking over, be about as popular as Colin.....
We signed him in October 1976, to put a bit of pressure on Graham Felton's right wing position. Felton's form had been patchy at best since his arrival on a free transfer from Northampton Town during the close season, in stark contrast to his displays the previous season whilst on loan. Warnock was a big improvement on Felton. However, he was outstanding in the first half of the following season, with his surging runs on the wing and chipping in with some decent quality goals. Later on, his form dropped off a bit & Jim Iley brought in Jon Nixon. Nixon wasn't a patch on Warnock, but Warnock didn't help himself by getting sent off against Huddersfield Town (spit!) along with Graham Pugh. Thankfully, we managed to hold on for a 1-1 draw. At the end of the season, Warnock was given a free transfer, thus missing out on the Allan Clarke revolution by a matter of weeks. He signed for York City, before moving on to Crewe a few months later.
Interesting diatribe there Lil. I remember his performances well as a "coat hanger" winger as it was teemed then. We are talking about future managers. Not sure how your Vogon poetry connects?
