Don’t care if that sounds childish and negative but the cold hard facts are he’s simply not good enough. No way, absolutely no way should this squad be 2nd bottom in League 1. Even with the constant chopping and changing of selection, formation and tactics, we shouldn’t be so easy to beat and I honestly cannot and do not see anything in him that can give me one shred of optimism for the future. We are going down under him and there is no way anyone can mount an argument that relegation is worth it in the long term. Player recruitment is obviously a ‘coordinated’ effort, so Im not blaming him 100% for some of the bad loan signings, but hes taken far too long to realise that the squad balance is wrong, and for me he’s still not being honest about it. And don’t insult us with “we watch hours and hours of dvds” – of Premiership Academy kids? Conor Wilkinson? ******. A manager with nouse would’ve many weeks ago told the ‘board’ that we cannot build a team around luxury central midfield players. Football knowledge would’ve also told him that Nytanga is a liability and his presence in the defence means we have been and continue to be leaking soft goals. Awareness and understanding would have made him bang on the door saying we need a left back and ideally some old heads. We are in November and his lack of experience means we’re still woefully short in some areas, we’re nowhere near the formula for success in League 1, and all that nonsense on the Powerpoint and his post match interviews tell me he still hasn’t grasped what it takes to win matches consistently in League 1. Men and boys. Men and boys, ffs. We’re a manager and probably 4 players away from doing anything in League 1. Anyone who thinks last night was progress is deluded. Coventry took their foot off the pedal, it sounds to me like the match was lost in the first 20 minutes, predictable for the fans, predictable for any manager setting a side up against us. A couple of players showed they care, probably on an individual basis, but I doubt very much whether that had much to do with the manager delivering an inspirational half time talk or changing things for the better. Passionless, naïve, disjointed and weak, a team reflects the manager. He’s going, Im sure, at some point in the next 2 or 3 weeks. In the meantime, clutch at straws if you want, and the one Ive got hold of is that Patrick and Ben thingybob are doing their due diligence on a replacement. To anyone still saying we cant keep sacking managers, I’d say we are no different to any other football club, patience is wasted on the wrong man, get the next one right and Johnson will be cast into the history of BFC as another mistake appointment much like Spackman, Parkin and many others. Patrick – make it so…
110% spot on and anyone who tries arguing otherwise are completely deluded! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The only thing I argue about is this side is good enough for this league. It's proving it's not & whilst some of that could be argued is tactical, lot of it is because some of the laikers we have aren't ready for this league.
Not good enough to challenge top 6 But better than bottom 3, is probably what we've got, on paper. But pickup ng the right formation and instilling the right tactics required. By November, criminal that we've rolled over at home so many times and still STILL can't keep a clean sheet.
The board have painted themselves into a corner through previous actions and statements. It takes some special kind of acumen to get to a point where every decision you could feasibly take now will contradict your MO and will alienate a large proportion of your customer base. I am in awe, I really am. Still, there's no alternative eh ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Almost as much as I laughed at your point about defending people you don't like... You couldn't write this stuff Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Great post and represents the opinions of many of us by all accounts. The man is clearly a liability and needs to go, the sooner the better for the sake of the club.
Yes. There is an alternative. We could march upon Oakwell with pitch forks. Or Jay could just get another biscuit instead. I'm going to send Ben a bill for the time I spent at the Ricoh last night.
I was almost hoping we got beat by 6 or 7 when we went 2 down early on last night just to force the issue. I've never felt like that before. I just don't rate the guy. The philosophy he has is awful, sideways & backwards, slow football enabling the defence of the opposition to get into position easily & counter us. A reliance on set pieces is shocking for a club of our size in this league.
Not sure about patience being wasted on the wrong man (although it sounds clever). Would like to know how our compensation costs for sacking managers (and their staff) compares to our outgoings in transfer fees over the past few years. I would hazard a guess that the former easily exceeds the latter. We simply cannot keep doing the same thing while expecting a different result (to paraphrase something that Einstein apparently didn't say)
Individually every player we have got is ready for this league. They are just not playing with the right personnel, therefore no, the 'team' is not good enough.
One stat that matters. No need for long winded explanations try to say otherwise. Were in the Bottom Four!
