Because season ticket holders want their own seats

Which is only fair, so they have to go to the box office for that specific seat.

    They could have

Allowed season ticket holders just 1 ticket, their own seat, and sold these from the box office. Then put the rest of the tickets on general sale and sold these from the turnstiles at the same time. The ground would have been sold out by now and we could all be talking about the QPR game.

    I don't think it's only fair.

I think it's petty and is the root of all the problems. If you agree that they deserve privileges, which I don't, they should be satisfied that they get first dibs.

"I want my own seat and one for my missus 5 rows away or I'll scream till I'm sick."

I said before this all started

That we should only get 1 ticket. But I certainly believe we should have the chance to occupy the seat we paid for last June.

    RE: I don't think it's only fair.

I think it's fair enough that a season ticket holder is guaranteed their seat if they want it, other than that though I don't see why they should be able to obtain extra ones.

  10. My brother got his seat plus one immediately in front of him for me..

Not that difficult really, is it?

    My thoughts exactly Jay

But that would involve logical planning.

Good point jay, if you read my posts below you will see that I am critical of all those who are complaining, but even as a S/T holder I have got to say that would probably have worked, I for one wouldn't have any objections in future to S/Ts only getting their own seat.

Indeed you did. "One arse one seat" you said.

I think ST holders could sit somewhere else for one match. That way their friends and family who've never been before have someone to sit with and ask questions about the rules.

    I think...

that there will be more than season ticket holders taking their friends and family to the game.

All sorts are crawling out of the woodwork. Those that have not been for years or not been at all.

ST holders sit in "their" seat as it is the seat they chose to sit in match after match.

If folk want to sit next to an ST holder

Then buy a Season Ticket and come every week.

Alternatively, ST holders just get their own seat and if they wish to bring an entourage of hangers on and various flotsam and jetsam then forgo the securing your own seat and take your chance when they go on general sale to get all seats together.

to be fair, barnsley are the ones causing the queues

    RE: They could have

Simple... Each customer is given a unique reference number that they can quote when booking (inc by phone or email - online may be a bit tricky for this). All season ticket seats are reserved on the box office system. ST holders quote their ref, the seat is then released and sold to ST holder OR ST holder would like to sit somewhere else so the seat is released and the ST holder purchases seats wherever they please and their ST seat can then be sold on. On 2nd March at 11.59pm all reserves are released for general sale.

If you want to take it further each customer can be given a swipe card with their ref on it. This can be swiped when purchasing to record all sales against customer records. This allows for better CRM and information gathering, e.g. customer purchases tickets for first game, club can then send a letter a few days later saying "welcome to BFC, we hope you enjoyed the game, you may like to come along to the forthcoming fixtures." Special offers (yeah, right) can be determined in this way and personalised. Also, if a customer hasn't been to a game for a season or two (depending on their previous frequency or attendance) they may become a "lapsed customer". The club may ask them why they haven't attended recently and gain valuable feedback/retain customers. It costs a lot more to attract new customers than to retain current ones.

Just my opinion like, but all this is simple to do. This could be expanded from here, but get the basics right and the rest could follow.
