Was Nyatanga injured or did SD just bottle it at half time....? I thought 5-3-2 worked well

First half thought we played pretty well, managed to contain Hull & restrict chances and their only goal being a penalty. We also managed to create a few chances and looked comfortable playing the 5-3-2 formation. In fact it seemed to suitsome player better e.g. Odejayi, Hassell & Leon.

But then after half time SD makes tactical change subbing Nyatnaga and switching to 4-4-2. The change in formation didn't suit players and our tempo came to a stand still. A completely different team to first half and Hull dominated from the kick off. If we had stayed with same formation and stuck to our task I was comfident we would get back into the game, but the change meant we fell to pieces. We were over run in every department, comfidence was slowly dropping and when they scored the second goal the tactical genious that is Simon Davey hit the panic button and changed formation again to 4-3-3 LIKE THATS EVER WORKED!!!! Well done Simon you FECKED it up good and proper son!!!

Ok lads looked tired second half, perhaps thats why 5-3-2 suited them? either way it worked first half (bar the pen) and has worked for last two games so why change the winning formula.

As for the players comments as follows:

Steele - kicking was poor last night, don't know whats wrong their fatigue?
Nyatanga/Van Homeot / Kozluk - played well in 5-3-2 formation
Souza - no need to make the challenge for the pen. which was defo pen by the way. apart from that ok.
Foster - dropped a few clangers today and looked tired.
Hassell - 5-3-2 suited him and he did ok first half. Weakest link in the second, lost possession far to often
Leon - 5-3-2 suited him well, he pull hall the strings. Second half worked hard but was overrun
JCR - did well first half, kept drifting back into the middle of the field in the second leaving Van Homeot exposed.
Macken/Odejayi - Very good first half 5-3-2 seemed to suite both strikes. Good movement. Second half had no service.

    Subs:
Coulson - great enthusiasum, worked hard and whipped in a great ball early doors
Nardiello - totally ineffective, should have left Odejayi on the pitch
Stan - pleased for him that he got a goal as he has got alot of stick from all quarters, missed a sitter 2mins before mind.

So what team do we play on Saturday, I guess the question is who's fit? I think I would probably go with the 5-3-2 and if Howards fit put in for Hassell. In this formation I feel Leon and Howard can play together. If Howards not fit play Togwell, I'm not actually a fan of his but he's better than Hassell in Midfield role.

I think Nyatanga had been ill prior to the game

So maybe it was a forced substitution?

i hope it was a forced sub, its wasn't going that badly that tactics needed changing so dramatically
