The ponty and east upper looked a bit threadbare and hardly any away fans yet we had more fans in than some games last season where in my opinion the attendance seemed larger than today's. Must be a trick of the light or summat.
From where I sit in the ESL I can usually guess with a fair degree of accuracy what the attendance is by looking at the Ponty and it looked about right for a 10k figure to me - I've seen it look at lot more threadbare than today. Was impressed with the turnout tbh.
I thought it looked 10k to me. I'm certain last season that the announced figure was inaccurate. I'd been to a few games where I paid on the turnstiles and wasn't given a ticket and lots of other people said the same. Not sure what happened to the money but I don't think we were counted towards the attendance figures.
weird how we all see things differently, last season I thought they were being generous with the figures,I also remember the burnley cup match from the previous season where they said the attendance was 5000,i honestly couldn't remember seeing the stadium that empty, never 5000 in a month of sundays. todays ponty was the fullest I'd seen it for ages.
Seemed plenty of seats empty around my area in the ponty and i'm sure I put my deoderant on before I set off. But tbh we had some games where away fans brought 3_4 k and attendance was announced as 12_13 k which left home crowd approx 9_k or so and it seemed as though a similar number attended today but as JD says figures may have been a wayward last season on which I tried to make a comparison on.
East looked relatively well populated from my viewpoint. Encouraging numbers, just hope not too many were put off by the game. Good noise too from the Ponty especially, hope that continues.
10,000 plus was a fantastic turnout and shows just how desperate the Barnsley public is to watch a winning team. Let's hope they get what they crave as the season unfolds.
