Can I have a hour and half of my life back please? The first half hour was decent enough before it descended into unadulterated sentimentality - the true story that "inspired" it sounds interesting and they could have made so much more of this film.

And I can't even being to start on the holes in the story.

    RE: shocking film

Seconded. One of the most disappointing films I've ever seen. I am going to be extremely anal now and complain that in the scene where the guy wants to take some medicine out of the US, the airport director says that he speaks a different dialect of Russian to Noborsky. Russian doesn't have any dialects, it's absolutely standard all over. Also, for most of the film, Tom Hanks speaks gibberish with a few Russian words thrown in. A bit like I do after a couple of vodkas really.....
