Go up to the ground day before or on the morning of the game, other than that the ticket touts are usually a good bet, l've watched many games in Europe Lazio, Milan, Barca, Inter.. take your passport or a form of I.D when getting them from the actual ground has we have had to produce this at the ticket office and at the actual turnstile.

We got taxi's from the Ramblas in the city centre up to the ground, its not too long. Word of warning on the Ramblas beware of pickpockets and the gangs of prostitutes that roam around there, they'll walk past you in the street and have their fingers in your pockets. Go drinking round the harbour area its a lot better.

Went a couple of seasons back and i bought tickets from a tout who had a stall selling scarves outside ground and it was a doddle. 20 mins before the kick off got sorted out and it was about 35 euros per ticket. I found the tube ok to handle and the small bars around the ground seemed safe and welcoming. Especially when 8 kids from barnsley turn up and want a good drink. Barca were playing espanyol when i went, there did seem lots of police about as these 2 have a bit of rivalry although i didnt see anything to worry about.

If i go again id probably purchase tickets before hand and get pay extra for good seats because the whole thing is a brilliant experience.

Gordon Owen is quite right, avoid the ramblas. The porto Olympica is a great area for food drink, this is where we went.

We went to Barcelona in Feb and although we didn't go to a game we went on the Nou Camp tour. Its easy to get to. We got around on the metro which is cheap. Collblanc is the stop we used which is just a short walk to the stadium. Bear in mind that although the stadium is huge it is actually 'sunk' into the ground so isn't easily visible above and of the buildings so just ask a local and they'll point you in the right direction.
As regards to the Ramblas. We spent a lot of time there using it as our centre point and never once encountered any thieves or prostitutes or dodgy goings on but we did exercise caution at all times. I used a money belt for cash, phone etc so only had a few coins in my pocket. I kept my camera on a loop on my belt and my missus only had change in her bag which she wrapped around her wrist. We never once encountered anything dodgy in our 3 days there either on the Ramblas or the Metro but I would advise you (as with any city) to keep your belongings safe. Their are a few dodgy looking 'homeless' people on the Ramblas (or they pose as homeless!) but we never had a problem.
Have a great time, we'd love to go back.
