...Not only the officials but no mention during the game or in the subsequent analysis of the off the ball 'forearm' lead during the first 'Goal' . Looked very blatant and if it had been a bit higher could/should have been a red card. As it was it was a clear bookable offence and it was not not as if it was a mile away from the ball player or masked by other players. Someone should have spotted it during the various replays and commented. Another 'Stevie Wonder' ref. On the postive side Barnsley still looked good going forwards and created lots of chances. That said (and it often is) NO side should score three away from home and come away with nothing to show points wise. McNulty (in the highlights at least) didn't stand out as the main culprit althopugh he did look as if he was a bit 'all at sea' during the set pieces and easily lost his man ( whoever that was as I couldnt tell who he was supposed to be covering during corners) Onwards and upwards.
Spot on that, Tekky. McNulty, Crainie and Kennedy all seemed to have been at fault for City's goals. I also felt that Steele was at fault for their second goal (should have claimed the ball) and for their third goal when he came and didn't get to their corner. Perkins poor backpass led to their fourth from the subsequent corner. But as Tekky says, their first shouldn't have stood, and one of Stead's was an unlucky deflection off Delap. Combined with all of that and the chances we missed (good saves by Heaton but they were straight at him), we can't and should not be too downhearted about this defeat.
