What do I need apart from a HD TV. Do I need an extra box to my sky and what sort of cost is this. There looks to be a few more HD programes coming along.

Mind you the pictures in Comet were from a disc. Does it mean you can get HD DVD's ?

You need an HDTV, a Sky HD box and possibly a HD-DVD or BluRay Disc player.
Sky HD boxes are £200-£300 with a subscription. There is then a £30 one-off upgrade charge and a monthly £10 premium on your subs.
HD-DVD and BluRay are competing formats using higher capacity disks that differ from ordinary DVD's and therefore cannot be played in an ordinary player.
Because the Sony PS3 plays BluRay discs there are more BluRay players in homes than HD-DVD at the moment. But the format war is far from over so buying one is a dangerous game at the moment.
