. <div class="ds-firstpara" id="ds-firstpara">BOLTON Wanderers are the latest club to be linked with a move for Barnsley's Brian Howard.</div><div class="va-bodytext" id="va-bodytext">The midfielder, who recently admitted that he is aware of interest from several potential buyers, reportedly features on Gary Megson's summer shopping list.

However, Oakwell manager Simon Davey has pledged not to sell Howard unless the deal is right for Barnsley.

Bolton have released Ivan Campo, Stelios Giannakopoulos and Andranik Teymourian to make room for new arrivals.

Sheffield United have already ruled themselves out of any interest in Howard.

Meanwhile, Barnsley are among a number of clubs being linked with possible interest in Hibernian winger Alan O'Brien.

The 23-year-old was previously with Newcastle United and Hibs paid &pound;350,000 to take the Republic of Ireland international to Scotland.

However, he was hit by injury last season which restricted his starting appearances into single figures and he is understood to be just one of many players that Barnsley did check on at some stage.

Swansea, Preston and Hartlepool are also reported to have checked him out and he was set to go on loan to Crewe at some stage this season but it fell through at the last minute.</div>

it would be nice if somebody at the club actually said that they WANT brian howard at barnsley

instead of saying, make a good offer and he's yours.

can i ask why that makes him injury prone, nearly every pro has a season were they just seem to struggle with injuries.

He's only played 32 matches in four years...........

If we are going to sign a winger we should go for someone who's scored more than one goal. This has to be a false rumour. Even JCR and Disco score more goals than him.

He's alright but he's nowhere near as good as Howard is, as some make out on here.

    To be fair

To me, it sounds pretty much like Howard is the only one making noises at the minute, not any of the clubs "he indicates are interested". I remember when he was interviewed and said he wanted to stay, but how many times did he mention he had one year left on his contract? He was like the yeh man off sky sports news. He wants to go, so let him. Not even our best player, infact not even our best midfielder.

Well come on then, tell me exactly which club have been declaring their interest??? Errrrm non. So who's making the noise? Brian Howard, as is often written, has informed of interested clubs. Let him go, he'll be back in the championship within a year, simply put, not upto that level.

How do you know who has made an inquiry?

Brian Howard IS the best midfielder at the club, he may be the best midfielder in the Championship, how anybody can belittle the impact and influence he has had on the team in the last 2 years is beyond comprehension.
Who do you think is the best midfielder at the club?
