- 4 unbeaten despite one or two inconsistent performances - A strong suggestion that we will improve as the season goes on - 1 place outside the play offs - Keeping ourselves just off the media radar and away from the pressure of being labelled a promotion 'favourite' - A young team that seems not only capable of passing the ball well at times and scoring high quality goals, but also of grinding out positive results when they don't play so well - Off-field commercial activity currently seems to be taking huge strides forward - Decent attendances for League 1 and only slightly down on last year with the hope that crowds will be very healthy should we be around the play offs this season - A healthy away following - A manager that knows what he is doing, is articulate and level headed and is putting a squad together that can grow and learn together - A CEO that communicates openly with the fan base - A supporters bar finally - A terrific fanzine once again - A nice away kit - Possibly the most handsome squad in league 1 to help balance out our very ugly fan base - A pointless sup game on Tuesday to help give some fringe players a run out - 11 days off to get players fully fit and to work on some of our defensive issues in training Up the chuffing Reds.
+1 Mike. Can't really think of anything significant to moan about this season so far. We are finally building a football club, some success is bound to follow. Competitive this season ready for a promotion push next would be acceptable to me.
Also I forgot to add: an owner that seems to be on the mend and taking an increasing interest in the club again (at least publicly).
Agree wi all the top post...id only add to the above post..that according to Ben and Danny's praise of the owner. He's doing a lot more than showing his face.
probably a stupid question but i was probably too young, what fanzine was around before weststandbogs?
It is funny how the results shape the whole view of the club, I agree with the OP but if we'd got 1 point from five we'd be saying things like, the chief exec talks too much and the away kit looks sh*t!
There was South Riding from the early 90s (I think) although I can't say I remember it originally, not sure if there was another one in between. The WSB lads have done brilliantly with it, in an age where we can access pretty much every written word from a device in our pocket, and most of it for free, it's amazing how popular it is. The only thing I'd criticise are the numbers they get printed - seems to sell out very quickly.
South Riding and Better Red Than Dead. Also a truly terrible one called Reverends Revenge. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Haven't really looked at the players up close to judge the handsomeness, but apart from that, I'm with you all the way. No idea how this season will turn out in terms of promotion/playoffs/etc, we may be nowhere near, but I know from the three home games that I'm going to see some good football and I'm going to see some good victories. After years and years of garbage, that'll do for me for the time being. I've no doubt I'm going to see us lose too, quite a few times. We don't know, as yet, how this team will cope with the more physical, well organised sides. We've only played one so far (Crawley) and they beat us. We'll have to see if that is a trend or something we can overcome. However, we've got a good idea how we'll fare against teams who come to Oakwell and play football, as Gillingham did, and that looks really positive. It may not be 4-1 every week, but it will produce fast attacking football that you actually enjoy watching.
We are indeed. What people are forgetting is. The football seasons like making love to a beautiful woman slow build up to an exciting finish. Not a thirty second knee trembler behind Pharohs.
