for those of unable, or choosing not to go to the Den on setdi, we are the main live commentary.. on FM i think.. which is great news for myself as i dont subscribe to Player, and dont do the southern away trips due to finance and work issues.. this will be our 2nd match covered live so far this season, after last weekends AM commentary at Reading.. dunno if the Blunts will get the AM game, but wouldnt be surprised if they did.. Rotherham and Chesterfield are yet to have a game featured thus far.. Donny have amazingly had 4 live games, and Wendy have also had 4.. the Blunts have been on 5 times.. theyve only played 6 games.. but, theyre coverage is fair, apparently.. does anyone else think our club may be losing fans with this Player thing? i was out last nite and a couple of lads that used to be ST holders told me they are only going to the Leeds games, and maybe Donny, and that its cheaper to just subscribe to Player..
I think Donny have had just one full live commentary so far Same as us. Theirs was against West Ham. Sheffield Teams have had 2 each. That doesn't include CC games.
Re: I think Donny have had just one full live commentary so far I know this is only loosely connected with this thread but, we will have reds' legend Trevor Aylott summarising for us on Player at Millwall on Saturday - which is another incentive to subscribe or listen if you are already signed up.
I was among those who couldn't get on player for the commentary last week so it wouldn't have mattered who was guesting. Very poor introduction to my signing up for player I have to say. Strange how everything came back to normal later, but when I fired off a complaint the email system would not work. Jury's still out I'm afraid.
Re: I was among those who couldn't get on player for the commentary last week That was a Perform log-in issue, nothing to do with our commentary. I log in early on matchdays to make sure I can record the game. I wonder if it might have something to do with lots of subscribers trying to log-in at the same time? Try logging in slightly earlier - if possible. If you have any future problems then try logging into another club's Player site and then select the commentary for our particular match. We had quite a few texts to us at the ground last week; but surely people must be able to appreciate that we aren't in a position to sort out individual log-in issues when we are in the middle of a live commentary.
Re: I was among those who couldn't get on player for the commentary last week Sorry Matt - I wasn't holding you or the commentary team responsible for that. My issue lies with whoever provides the service so that I can access your commentary. I have heard complaints before, but I only signed up for this season. I did manage to get on very late, but if that is going to be a frequent occurence then I am not interested. And if Barnsley Player is so bad that the only route into it is going to be a convoluted workaround via Sheffield Wednesday or Sc unthorpe player, then I'll pass.
Re: I was among those who couldn't get on player for the commentary last week if i subscribe to player can i listen when im in usa or like the bbcs goals show is it blocked for people out side the uk
Re: I was among those who couldn't get on player for the commentary last week I always log in quite early, up to 4 hours in advance. I've got myself Total Recorder now and can record the matches myself. I log into live match commentary , then click on the white square thing and it starts to buffer. Obviously nothing happens but wene Matt and the team start broadcasting it comes on. I've never had any problems with listening to the commentary, as long as you do it early enough. As Matt says, it's perhaps not a good idea to log in very late or just before the match kicks off.
Re: I was among those who couldn't get on player for the commentary last week I know you weren't having a go at us mate. It is frustrating and it's the same for us at the games, we want everyone to have a pleasureable trouble-free listening experience and it distracts us from doing our job properly if that's not the case and we realise that paying subscribers are having difficulties with the service. I must admit it does baffle me that Barnsley Player seems to be affected more than most re: technical issues. I was just using your post to generalise for the texters who were letting us know about the problems last week in the expectation that we might be able to do something about it. As you rightly say, it is obviously the provider at fault as once we have dialled in and established a connection everything is working normally as far as we are concerned. I hope these issues will be resolved soon because it does deter potential subscribers. Anyway, sorry for hijacking the original thread.
Re: I was among those who couldn't get on player for the commentary last week Yes, as far as I am aware there are no restrictions on Barnsley Player coverage to subscribers anywhere in the world.
Re: I was among those who couldn't get on player for the commentary last week You can listen to it outside the UK. Dunno about China and North Korea though. The Supreme Leader is still upset that Davey went.
Re: I was among those who couldn't get on player for the commentary last week When the log-in works I think the Barnsley World service is fantastic and well worth the fiver a month it costs.
Re: I was among those who couldn't get on player for the commentary last week Thanks Mario! If we had any Barnsley Player T-shirts you would be the lucky winner of one.
Re: I was among those who couldn't get on player for the commentary last week Been really impressed since i signed up to Player a few weeks before the season. Being able to watch a full match that I haven't been able to get to is great and gives a much better feel for how the game has gone. And one of the matches soon i'm going to keep a tally of how many times "far right hand side" is said during the game... seems to get busy down that far right hand side!!!
Re: I was among those who couldn't get on player for the commentary last week Ha! The "infamous" far right-hand side at Reading was particularly far away (we were a mile up in the press box) and blurred at The Madejski. I accused Matty Done of bringing down Kebe for the first pen when, it was of course Jay Mac and I also made a few other dubious calls last week which I wasn't proud of. I reckon I still made less mistakes than BBC Lizzie though. ;-)
Re: I was among those who couldn't get on player for the commentary last week I'm sure McEveley was glad to escape being the culprit!!! A challenge.... get through a half without referring to a far right hand side (especialy when it seems to be left!)... i dare you ;-)
Re: I was among those who couldn't get on player for the commentary last week I always work from the attacking side's perspective (and the goalkeeper's position for shots on goal). Might be an idea to try and keep it to "far side" to avoid confusion though.
Re: I was among those who couldn't get on player for the commentary last week It would be worn with pride at all home games
