Debate has already started about who should be offered new contracts and who shouldnt. Who is good enough and who is not. Despite avoiding the drop, almost, most will agree that the present squad needs improving. At the beginning of last season there was the feeling who would want to come to a side that was certain to struggle. Many players coming to the end of their contracts give the club the opportunity to shuffle the pack. Will quality players be no willing to come to us?

Will we have a better team next season as a result. What do you think?

If we keep Nardiello, we will need a centre forward to play from November to February as Nardiello does not seem able to play in winter.

Personally I think the team and squad will improve...

The thing is, you have to survive your first season - just survive it. Like Wednesday did last year. Once you find your feet and you stay up (and even if it is just by the skin of your teeth on the last day) you gain so much:

    1) Experience and knowledge of the qualities you're up against.

    2) Awareness of your own weaknesses and the areas that genuinely need strengthening.

    3) A moreestablished reputation in the league. There is less of a possibility of you being abad club to sign for.

I personally think that, if the investments are made (big question mark there) and we strengthen in key positions (left back particularly key, but also right back, and maybe a centre back too, can we keep Kyle Reid? Can we get Nyantanga back from Derby?) we will do much better than we have done this season. The left and right backs would be the priority for me.We simply need to address the way in which the defence is organised and the quality on the wings when we defend. Our defence has been shocking overall - hence how many goals we have let in. If we tighten up at the back we have nothing to worry about next year.

I would love to see Wallwork come back too.

Hope we keep Rajczi, think he is the reason Nardiello is closing down and working hard, because he knows there's a player sat on the bench waiting to take his place.

Think we need a LB, RB and a new CB who are better than what we have got. Also need a couple more wide midfielders and another striker. These 6 new players and we will be competitive. Got to get Howard and Nards signed up though. Would let most of the fringe players go, they simply aren't up to this standard.

For me, success in this division will always be about scoring goals. With respect, Rajczi, Richards and Hayes are not putting Nardiello and Ferenczi under any pressure. We will need to sign 2 forwards capable of scoring regularly in this division in order to stay up. We have the same problem as last year - how do we afford player of that quality.

I find the comings and going very entertaining during close season - I think we can expect some surprised both coming in and going out. Still helps pass the time until next season starts I am sure that Davey will have ideas on who should stay that may surprise many of us

We've not avoided the drop yet....

So this is all a bit premature

    You must be kidding...

We have let in 77 goals this year. The way to stay in a division is to build from the back and tighten up - become a difficult team to beat. On too many occasions we've let in four or five. Our strikers aren't super stars, but they are adequate for this level- the same cannot be said of our back four. If we want midtable we ought to be aiming at conceding 50ish goals. If we were letting in at that kind of rate, our strikers would be more than good enough to do the rest. Plus, it is cheaper (and more realistic) to strengthen the defence than to buy superstars to score our way to safety.

RE: We've not avoided the drop yet....

Whether we avoid the drop or not, it does not change the fact that there is going to be some comings and going during close season. Thee question is will we end up with a better team - no matter what division. If we stay up will we have a better Championship team - but what if we go down? Will we be a top league one side?
