Maybe in previous years where we've had to rebuild the team after losing half our players in the Summer was a good thing. The new players are hungry and enthusiastic and that can obviously bring better performances.

It's like most people in any line of work, you work at the same place for a length of time and you settle into just doing the bare minimum.

There isn't really anything to click at the moment.

Daggers has now been found out and Scotland can only play half a game at best. There was just a hint that Pederson and Cogba might be able to strike up an understanding, but even then we're gonna be a one-trick pony.

Mellis has talent but no industry, Dawson is the other way around. Tompole is useful but a bit lightweight, while Dorata is injury-prone.

Defence - well we are just not good enough (yet) to play three at the back. We could do with half a dozen.

Jennings looks like Mido's brother and we daren't risk Digby unless we spoil his transfer value.

Apart from that, I'm not feeling too down just yet!

If we compare results from these games to last season...

Wigan H 0-4 vs Cardiff 1-2 same (Cardiff were top promoted team, Wigan were top relegated team)
    Blackpool A 1-0 vs 1-2 -3 pts
    Charlton H 2-2 vs 0-6 +1pt
    Blackburn A 1-5 vs 1-2 same

We are only 2 pts worse off than last season like for like. However the goal difference is a lot worse.

I agree... I think we are better than we have shown. Just need the right combination.

So over four games we are 'only' 2 points worse off. Great, so over 46 we'll 'only' be 23 worse?

I very much agree its too early to pass judgment. But that's a daft stat.

Not necessarily. We've only won twice at Blackburn in 23 years. We've never beaten Wigan in the League (and only scraped one draw). Its four years since we beat Charlton at home. With the exception of Blackpool, every league game this season has been one that we've normally struggled in and wouldn't expect to get many points in *any* recent season...

Now, For the next games, we've not lost in any of the last 2-3 at Bournemouth, Leicester or Forest. Watford haven't beaten us at our place in years, so we should expect to get 5-6 points from these games. Any less and it could be a sign that the season is looking bad.
