I found all that recent talk about the population of various towns with football clubs rather uninteresting. Some towns are bigger than others, while other have more diffuse populations. So… But if there was an equivalent league table for the amount of character/culture/ identity a town has… then Tarn would be top of the league. I grew up in Swinton and Wath but always tell folks I am from the Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster triangle. Wherever, I go, people know of Tarn, they know where it is and what they think its like. But Rotherham and Donny, well they are just like any other town. They are just towns. Just saying Barnsley makes your chest fill with pride, we all know its special and that we are blessed because we are from TARN.
"Wherever, I go, people know of Tarn"... ...except those who think Burnley and Barnsley are the same place, and believe me, such people do exist. They'll be ballaxed this weekend, they'll think we're playing our own reserves.
RE: "Wherever, I go, people know of Tarn"... Yeh loads of people think that, they even do imitation Burnley accents . Anyway wouldn't say I was fromt Tarn. To me Tarn is tarn centre areas not outlying villages.
