Just thought I would get the general opinion of the forum seen as though we all know Patrick, Ben and Lee read it. Can just right agree or disagree don't really have to explain. I am an agree with
We should not hold Winnall up as someone not to be played. (Same goes for Hourihane an all.) We need a goal threat for sure. I am not sure whether that involves a target man.
I'd rather get a fast forward to support Winnall myself. Winnall and Hourihane played their best football with Cole next to them.
Agreed. George Waring, or Michael Smith, or anyone else who has been properly scouted and could do the job.
Personally I've no qualms about going with one up top but you need midfielders to be switched on enough to get forward to provide support.
We certainly seem to have a problem going forward at the moment. Winnall still doesn't seem to be back to full fitness, Wilkinson just hasn't been effective (a big problem with him is that his body language suggests he's not totally committed to the cause) and we have little other option, apart from playing a player up front who is predominantly a midfielder or a winger. We have a lot of talented midfielders though and once they all properly gel, and once Winnall is fully fit, we'll probably be much more effective at playing one up front. At the moment, however, it's not really working, but we don't have a lot of alternatives. But if anybody thinks that LJ is not aware of this they must be crackers. I am pretty sure that bringing in striking options is at the top of his priorities and I sincerely hope he's successful, as we certainly need somebody. But I'd also suggest that throwing money at another Leroy Lita would be just as bad as bringing nobody in, so hopefully he can get someone he really wants (and I don't agree with the people who are saying that LJ's signings have been poor, not by a long way) and doesn't just get landed with the best of who's available, which has seemed to be the case in previous years.
Can you believe Cole has a 2 yr deal at Bradford with an option for a 3rd? Love him or loathe him I'd take him tomorrow as a permanent fixture in our current squad
Yes I agree, a target man type striker is what we are missing. To compliment the attacking options we have and the general setup of the team, a striker who can retain the ball in the final third is essential. Just look at how effective Rochdale were today with Calvin Andrew leading the line. His strength and know how was key for them and it allowed their creative players (Henderson, Mcdermott and Allen) to dominate the ball. If we can bring someone in who fits the bill - perhaps it is Smith from Swindon - then it will give the team a new dimension. Hopefully this will happen.
What we need is a manager who knows what he's on with. Today was as bad as I have EVER seen, it was that bad. Our 3 best players were left out, presumably due to fatigue... My question is, why on ****ing gods earth is a league cup tie prioritised over the league? Another question, who the ****s signed Conor Wilkinson? And another, why the **** do we persist with one up top? Ive just got in, very drunk admittedly so I havent read any other thread and dont know if these questions have been covered over and over but today was a complete shambles. I hope they are gunna offer a refund again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I agree we need experience. Someone who can bully a defence, make space and old man them. Experience is lacking right now in our team.
jabbo was the man but everybody said he was too old , is that 8 he has scored now and he was free and would have been a real addition as a squad player
We play with one up top because with four midfielders we'd get over run and out played, if we can't do it with 5 of them what do you think 4 will do?
