Eric should never have gone in the first place. He was Mr Reliable and I believe all clubs need an Eric.In our present situation Eric would provide a calming influence to some players and a kick up the backside to others.I look on this board and hear comments on who's to blame over the recent years for our demise from the Championship. For me it actually started before with the appointment of Mr Spackman. His decisions at the club put us back years and years, not only his demand for funds we didn't have but getting rid of Eric Winstanley.I hope to this day he feels the shame of what he did to BFC.
Agree 100% with this. Shame on Spackman and also the directors that sanctioned Eric's dismissal. I'd like him back right now. My dream team would be Macca as Manager and Winnie as his Number 2.
Winstanley being outed from Oakwell was the crime of the century as far as the fans are concerned and was detrimental to the demise of the club imo. He seems settled in his job working with redders so probably wouldn't be dislodged unfortunately but surely we have some ex reds hungry for success and have the town, club and fans at heart that could do a similar job. Sir Bobby sprung straight to my mind but he'd be for the future imo. Others imo would be Nicky Eaten,Steve Agnew or Daivid Watson (unlikely given their current jobs) but there must be others?
