And in reality we've brought in one. But sod it - let's give the club a massive undeserved pat on the back. Here's to being 13th at Christmas and bringing some more loan signings in come January. YRCO
Two. Smith and the lad from Gloucester City. Plus the keeper is now ours. Ideally I'd have liked a few more but it's better than I anticipated at around 15:00 hours today.
Be reight though Mario - we won't see the lad from Gloucester this side of 2017 and the keeper was already with us. We've only brought in one player you would expect to feature on a regular basis.
Why did we need six players?? To pay lads to not even be in squad? Yep great idea. We needed a striker and a lb we got a striker a proven one. Name the six positions we needed players for please?
Yeah I know it wasn't exactly what most were expecting but the key signing for me was a striker. If we stop playing Nyatanga at left back and start playing our specialist left back there we'll look more balanced at the back too. I reckon he'll be bringing in a couple more loans before the month is out. Again not ideal but it seems to be the way LJ is wanting to do things.
Two full-backs; two wide midfielders; two strikers. If you're being really generous, and think that Harry White is going to make an impact, we got the forwards, but we're still light in all wide areas.
We needed to send Wilkinson back, replace him and bring in another striker. So two strikers. We needed to send Rothwell back because he's as much use as a duffel coat in Dubai, we needed to bring in a wide player with a bit of pace, a midfielder who can tackle and two full backs.
We're still lightweight up front though. Anyone with functioning eyes can see that Wilkinson is a waste of a shirt, and Winnall is obviously injury prone. We could still be struggling come November.
We needed a striker ,we got one and I reckon a good one at that ,left back I disagree ,if we bought one what are we gonna do with nyatanga ? Lose him to reserves ! Can't see anyone wanting to drop mawson or Roberts in centre and then we've got young smithy who can play damn well there and is now on bench so really we've already got two left backs that are very capable in this league We needed a striker to compliment winnall ,we got one. Look how we played againsT Everton ,it's obviously in there so give it time ,this is makings of a very good team ,and young team at that. Midfield is where we need to shore up the defence and that is exactly what we've done ,able to switch midfielders for like for like quality when injury happens to maintain the formation were employing .
I agree re: Wilkinson (so far at least) but I think he'll go back into the loan market for more players. Overall I'm a little underwhelmed with our summer transfer activity but I am happy with the signing of Smith.
As far as I'm concerned its good business ,it's like a business having a car on lease hire rather than buying one out right ,working capital freed up,budget able amount going out monthly and still having the use of the same vehicle. Nothing wrong with loans ,with terms attached ,just a savvy way of using ,getting what you want need without stretching finances whilst all the time propagating our own free talent . If smith breaks his leg now we've lost his wages ,if we buy him ,oh dear.............
What's that got to do with where it got them,a lot further than rest of league .positional wise not far off automatic promotion
Depends which team you support but yes essentially for a large percentage of the league that is the objective but unfortunately not every team can get promoted . Run of the ball, luck, slightly better team, etc etc , They did well .simple
