think what this might be doing to the rest,we are now saying on here just about , that the success is pure down to Brian Howard...well he is just ONE player. It is not fair on the rest who have all sweated blood for the cause so far. Of course Howard shines but it is because of the players around him, he is better this time by far, because we have better by far around him. So come on people give the TEAM a break and stop pedestaling just ONE player..HE is NOT the team......THEY ALL ARE.

sorry but I am getting at the fact that all this could and can unsettle the rest ..I re-itterate that its been a TEAM thing thats put us where we are NOT just Howard..he has scored the goals yes but he did not solo them all ..and he did not defend to the death or run midfield or keep goal...come on people wake up and smell the coffee...THE WHOLE DAMMED TEAM HAVE PUT US WHERE WE ARE ...NOT JUST HOWARD. Beattie has scored 8 at Sheff utd ...but because the rest have performed ***** they are down the wrong end..so do you se now you must have the TEAM also performing not just one man.

 

I don't think we can place enough importance on keeping Brian Howard at Oakwell.

Apart from his contribution to every match I get the feeling he's important to the attitude of the whole squad. We shouldn't risk any destabilisation at all but losing Howard could be disasterous. The stakes are enormous now and we need to back this hand with everything we've got.</p>

Controversial viewpoint alert

I don't think Brian has started this season as well as he started last in terms of all round performance, and I can't wait to see how well we can do when he is at his best. What he has done is score goals, which will always make folk take notice. And long may it continue, he clearly sets himself very high standards.

I desperately hope he stays but cannot see the club rejecting offers of the nature suggested. I've been saying for a long time that he's worth that sort of cash - certainly if Brunt is worth £3m, Kenwyne Jones £5m and Nugent £6m. Where this kind of talk REALLY helps though is getting rid of the 'small, cash-strapped club' image and may well result in higher fees for some of our other players when compared to the last few years.

Of course the best part of this speculation is that Brian Howard has continued to demonstrate his commitment to the club, and that is rare in football these days. If he did go for £3m tomorrow, the way to look at it is that he could have gone for nowt in the summer.

we will still do very well even without the deity that is Brian, we still have a far better team/squad than last season with or without the deity that is Brian. As I said in another post Beattie at the Blunts is top scorer of this league but look where they are, they have a squad that is performing badly and just one who is apparently doing his job....I put to you all that we have a squad who are ALL doing a mighty fine job...and that includes the PLAYER that is Brian

Let's face it - Higgie was exactly the same and at that time we were a 'one man team' (except if you watch the highlights and you'll immediately recognise that we had some quality players that year in many positions). The worst that can happen is that the legend grows and someone comes in a pays five million quid for Howard. Now, I'm not saying that I want him to go, but if he has to go at some point, let's make some money. If the rest of the squad are that bothered that the established figure at the club is the crowd hero, they need to belt up, because clearly everyone is delighted with the rest of the team as well.

Because I don't recall reading one. He is, however, an integral part of the team, as are many others, but also as captain then he will be an influence over the other players.
We are developing a spine through the team, Muller-Souza-Howard-Odejaye, that's what you need.

Where is all this talk of him moving coming from because it doesn't appear to be coming from the club or from the player. There is media speculation, much of which is probably putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 10.

Sorry one player can make a difference!

Two words - Craig Hignett! Never the same after he left and yes I did think we had a good team - sometimes that one player can make a good team tick and pull it together - especially at this level. We would miss him and he'd be a massive loss!
