If Abromovich jumps ship, according to the Daily Express, who's going to pay the bills ????????? DAILY EXPRESS Roman Abramovich remains at the Chelsea helm on Monday morning after 24 hours of intense speculation that the billionaire owner was about to jump ship.
Isn't it good then .... to have a pretty well run small club. If the Abramovic millions go and no other buyer is found (how many more Middle, or Far Eastern investors are there?) the club could all but collapse. The same could happen to Manchester City. Both could do a Leeds United very easily. I lots of ways I wish this were all better regulated, but then we probably depend a fair bit on Patrick Cryne's involvement. I was one who applauded the Norwich City cup semi-final heroes at Carrow Road on Saturday. Those were real heroes indeed - when a programme cost 4 old pennies and you got in for half a crown! You had to be careful what you said on the bus journey home, as you might find one of the players sitting on the seat behind you.
Thats what gets me about all this doom mongering. So what if RA jumps ship at Chelsea. They have probably £300m worth of playing assets at the club (more if Man City get involved). They have a sold out stadium week in week out at vastly inflated prices. They have the premiership money year in year out and also the Champ league money and associated revenues attributed to that. If he does sell up chelsea will cut their cloth accordingly, sell Drogba and be ok. Odds are though someone with more brass than RA has will buy them and they'll be better off.
Wheres it say that? He would have to sell first anyway, and 500m is nothing to the Arabs etc.... who would have to stump up the 700m est to get Chelsea in the first place.
Don't we rely on Patrick Cryne Not to the same level, but we still do don't we? I don't know if Mr Cryne still helps with the day to day running costs, but I do know the club owes him lots of money. We'd be in as much of a mess as Chelsea, probably a lot more so, if our benefactor pulled out, particularly if he demanded repayment.
Absoluterlee We've no cause to be smug.
Thankful that Mr C is a Barnsley fan, not someone with a passing interest in football, but still, we need to realise we are in his debt.

RE: Wheres it say that? I remember reading that somewhere too. He bought the club but everything he has put in has been on a loan basis with 18 months recall. Not sure if Chelsea have been paying him back, obviously while borrowing still. They will owe him a fortune if it is true.
Im not convinced thats true. I read somewhere that he had put money in a type of trust fund to ensure that if anything happened to him that Chelsea would be ok. Im not convinced thats true either. Anyway, they owe him £500m in total for wages, buildings and obviously players. I fail to see how Chelsea would be in swanny without him anyway. They would have zero problems raising the money via mortgage on the club, incomings and land. They could sell Cech and Essien tomorrow for 100m not to mention Lampard, Terry, Cole x 2. Im not saying they wouldn't feel the pinch, but not how people make out. They have £50m p.a from the premiership. Estimated £35m from Champs League not including gate and merchandise revenue. They have a 40k plus ground that sells out every week, even though they have £100 seats. The boxes are massively high cost. Then youve got food etc..... Anyway, its all hypothetical. Chelsea is most pretigous football post code to have and an Arab would pay a fortune to have it.
