And we'll end up bottom many points adrift of the sides above us. The better players will leave and then we'll have many fun years moving between the bottom 2 leagues. All after being handed the chance to establish our Championship status. Good old Barnsley. Making a sow's ear from a silk purse. Ritchie and Holden should have been put on to longer contracts last summer and then the Board should have worked with Ritchie to strengthen the team. What's happened is a disgrace.
I'll still keep going though.

Think that's covered all bases.

The board planned to fail. Squad building should have happened close season or Ritchie should have been replaced if he refused to give us a fighting chance. Too little too late.
Ode to squad strengthening by Andy Ritchie I've been holdin' on I've been lookin' for the real thing Waitin' patiently but I never stopped believin' Say I'm chasin' rainbows livin' in a dream Girl I kept my fantasy I'm never givin' in I'll tell you why, oh why If I can't have Chopra I don't want nobody baby Girl it's got be Chopra Oh I need the real thing If I can't have Chopra I don't want nobody baby Girl it's got be Chopra I don't have no substitute I want the real thing Had a part-time love But I never fell completely But when you touch me there Ooh you get me reelin' yes you do Can I dare to wonder If it could be you Girl you set my heart on fire When I dream of you I wanna fly, oh so very high If I can't have Chopra I don't want nobody baby Girl it's got be Chopra Oh I need the real thing If I can't have Chopra I don't want nobody baby Girl it's got be Chopra I don't need no substitute I need the real thing (If I can't have Chopra) (Got to be Chopra) (Real thing) Come on stay tonight Come on soothe my mind oh honey (got to be Chopra, real thing) Come on stay tonight Come on soothe my mind oh honey (got to be Chopra, real thing)

Mmm. The words don't fit with the song. Anyway - Ritchie was quoted as saying "I won't spend money on players who are no better than what we've got". Kyel Reid v Michael McIndoe Grant McCann v Brian Howard Dwayne Mattis v Sam Togwell Our team wasn't good enough on day one - only the spirit generated by Ritchie gave us even the slightest chance of staying up. The fact is - our team is worse now than it was under Ritchie ... but you can keep on convincing yourself that Gord is God - it just means you'll look an even bigger tit when he fecks it up completely.
Team is worse cos McIndoe has left? The player you never thought we'd sign. we played 'Andys team' on Tuesday, bar McParland and Wright (brilliant signings they were) so its almost the same squad innit? Maybe the players arent up to it? Which is all the more reason for bringing new players in. You've made your mind up about Mattis on the strength of one game. and lets not forget the world beaters that Andy did sign. cos they all were. I remember the atmos on here when Andy got the job full time, very similar to what it is now. Cheap option, blah blah blah. That'll be Gordon's man, Andy, given the job after a less then convincing caretaker tenure. As for feeling a tit, no more than normal. Football has a tendancy to make you look stupid, thats part of the appeal.
Mistakes Not strengthening in the close season. Not finding a way forward with Ritchie, even if it meant comprise from both sides. Talking about 'box office' players, experienced players and an experienced manager joining our club. Stating openly that we wouldn't announce new players until the deed was done. We just make it up as we go along. Davey deserves a chance, he didn't sack Ritchie, he didn't apply for the job it was suggested. We'd all have taken it wouldn't we? But now things are going so badly he seems to be having a pop at the supporters. It's all so unprofessional. And it's very, very sad to see us falling so rapidly and the fans becoming so dissillusioned.
Completely wrong. I was one who couldn't understand Ritchie's appointment, but there were PLENTY who welcomed it. You cannot seriously say we were as down as this when Ritchie was appointed. I think you must be the only person on this board who's happy with Davey.
I guess Davey and Ritchie have different gameplans. What I dont understand following Daveys appointment is that he hasnt managed to get the team playing like we did at the start of the season.
I would have thought that that would have been a target and a rallying cry to the players. But we havent once looked like getting close to that under Davey.

Really? I don't think it was Andy's team. He'd have played Richards. And Kay (possibly our best player this season). Also - the team wasn't coached (head tennis) or motivated (naked press ups) by Ritchie ... it was left to Clipboard Colin, who looks woefully out of his depth. I also think you fail to comprehend the most important point ... which is that if maybe 8 of the players were from Ritchie's squad - then why could Andy get them to play, while Davey can't? By the way - I've seen Mattis three times, not once. I just can't believe you let Gord hypnotise you.
RE: Really? I bet you five quid you're at Brooklands in May bidding for Mattis's shirt. the 2 games for Bury, did he look any good? If I came into work for a new boss and he stopped me browsing the web all day posting ***** on here I'd get reight monk on wi him. but if I got whiff of somebody coming in that might tek my job, eventually I'd get me arse into gear and show him. I think. eek...
I'll be at Brooklands alright. For two reasons: (1) I still support the club & want to put some cash in, as per usual (2) I want to hear what they have to say about this seasons debacle I thought Mattis looked well for Bury - but he was playing in a "box-to-box" role alongside a defensive midfielder. Also - this was 4th division football, which isn't really indicative of how he'll perform in the second tier. What if you didn't give a flying **** about your job anymore? You liked the old boss, didn't like what happened to him & can't understand what the new boss is trying to get you to do. Witbangingongordsdoorart.
plus in a few months you'll be able to get a new job somewhere else in the league above where you'd be playing if you stay.
