Anyone got any memories of extreme weather at a Barnsley match where the match actually finished despite the wind, rain, snow, fog etc The one i remember was vs Reading on Tuesday night in the 80s. Stood in Ponty end and could only see half of pitch. We were left guessing as to what happened at the other end. Won 5-2 i think and thankfully most of goals were scored at our end. Also remember Paul Futcher almost breaking the cross bar he hit the ball so hard. Great days!
Donny when Chops scored and Watford on Sky over Xmas holiday period when they had temp showing at side of screen. Pitch side was saying -18 at one point.
Remember the one where you could only see upto the half way line.
Some of the chants that night..
where are ya? where are ya? instead of who are ya..Paddock, Paddock wheres the ball? and we can't see you sneaking out..

Stockport at home late 1980's snowballing Franny Lee, 4-1 up with 10 mins to play and drew 4-4 if i remember
I think it was Wimbledon in the Prem - not extreme weather as such, just very bizarre. I went to a youth team game in the morning, when it was snowing heavily, then during the afternoon game it hailed, rained, snowed and bright sunshine came out all within 90 minutes. It was incredible, one minute it was horrible, the next minute a beautiful day!
Winds v Sunderland when the East Stand moved... Shotton made a one game come back if l remember rightly, l was sat next to his wife and son.
Rochdale away, FA cup, won 3-1 in snowstorm Winstanley, Jmmy Seal and errrr.... Winstanley again I think, not sure. Somebody will put me right I'm sure. At Oakwell I was at the Sunderland game when Shotton scored and the stand moved - was talking to the architect at the time. Yes, really!
The best thing about that Sunderland game was that the Ponty end was a building site and the Sunderland fans were in the West Stand. They saw very little of the match because of the sand etc being blown into their faces!
Hull at home in the 80s I remember it raining then hailstones the size of golf balls and the bobbies moving the Hull fans (about 500) off the Cop and into the end of the Brewery Stand to take shelter.
Coldest I've ever been at that match... ... was that game. Took my Palace supporting brother in law and he said he was that cold he he didn't want a pint after (unheard of)
Van Der Larn was injured in that game and didn't play again !!

RE: Winds v Sunderland when the East Stand moved... Yeah he scored the winner that night. I somehow managed to get Shottons socks that he wore that night through a friend of a friend who knew someone at the club. I wore one over the pot on my broken leg at Wembley!! I've still got them
