Wes Streeting isn't the Health Secretary for nothing as he said we should layer up and put the heating on. He's not wrong. On the plus side we will be back home from the match before the snow comes. Cannon Hall already has up a sign saying they are shut tomorrow due to adverse weather conditions, so they are expecting it to be bad.
Easy when you're on about 100 grand or whatever. Tell that to the Labour voting pensioners who are 500 quid down on the deal.
Unfortunately a lot can't afford to put heating on' on a brighter note they have managed to find £46 million for a statue of the queen so every cloud and all that eh.
I've had my dowling rod out and it's going to snow from midnight tonight until midday Monday. Then freeze and snow again next Friday.
Couple of inches in Farnham. Roads after I left the M3 were a bit interesting think only the motorways gritted down here. Fortunately I’ve winter Tyres and 4wd so no problem getting home
They’re not ‘down’ though are they? Triple lock pension increases that dwarf any wage rises, and significantly lower fuel costs this year compared to last year, mean they are still better off even without the fuel allowance… But don’t let the truth stop a good government bash eh? I mean yeah, one of the most protected and looked after sections of society should have a universal non-means tested benefit… The scrapping of it was rushed through, and the line in the sand drawn is questionable. I agree to that much. But it would be wholly wrong to continue, when the country is on its arse economically, to give a universal benefit to several million people when a very high proportion have absolutely no need of it. That isn’t to say that some who perhaps do need it, or at least could do with it, aren’t missing out. I get that. Pension credit isn’t always claimed and even those that don’t qualify aren’t necessarily particularly well off. Ok. But it wasn’t wholly incorrect to implement this. It really wasn’t. There are plenty (certainly not all, but plenty) of pensioners with a heck of a lot more disposable income than the average working family. Some earning thousands if not millions from interest on savings, dividends, all sorts. Why should they continue to be sent additional funds from the tax payer? They had to stop it being universal. It has to be means tested.
