Having apologised to the club, the majority of the Wednesday fans calling up football heaven have forgiven him because, 'he's a young lad (26)', 'he's in a foreign country', 'he's a good player'.

All valid reasons to breach contract and refuse to play for your club because they've thrown the cash at other players allegedly.

There's even been a fella on say, "maybe all the interest from other clubs just got to him and he didn't feel in the right state to play".

    Jesus christ.

Would they be so forgiving if it was one of their more average players?

    The rosiest of tinted specs.

One woman even likened it to her giving one of her kids the wrong dinner money. Unbelievable.

Similar to how our fans view Hammill after he was found guilty of assaulting 2 females really.

Not really. One was something years ago away from football where ALL Barnsley fans have condemned his actions. The other is a player refusing to play for the club who pays his money just a few days ago and people making excuses up for what he did

Agree what Hammill did is a lot worse.

    We still love him though.

    It's a different thing though.

It's a different situation completely that needs addressing completely differently.

It is worse. Adam has to live with the guilt of what he did.

Probably not the best comparison to use.

He wasn't at Barnsley when that occurred and I certainly don't recall people on here or on Football Heaven making excuses for him etc.

    Awful comparison.

Have we ever had a player who refused to play?

I'm sure I saw something about him refusing to play and see out his contract in the reserves but that he agreed to play that match as it was set up by the powers that be as scouts had been invited to watch him

I'm almost sure that Burton refused to play against Ipswich at Portman Road.
    Wasn't John Hendrie in charge?
    I was at that game.
    Awful, disinterested player.
I remember writing to the Derby Manager at the time and complaining arbout his attitude and effort.
Received a lovely reply back from Jim Smith, personally signed!

I wouldn't play him again, he's a disgrace, everything that's wrong with football.
He said he wasn't "in the right frame of mind" he's in one of the most privileged occupations in the world on money I could only dream of earning and he's not in the right frame of mind!?
    Nobhead.

When did Danny Wilson refuse to sit in the dug out and take charge of a game? This is a bad example of the point you're trying to make.

PS. No need to call fans who we're prepared to give Danny a second chance morons.

Erm, at the beginning of the 98/99 season I noticed he was no longer in our dugout because he wanted to go 'home'.

Bit like you wife leaving you for your next door neighbour then taking her back once he ****ed her off and the bloke at other side had ****ed her off aswell.
