Jumping the gun? Councillors have recommended rejection of the application but no decision til next week. From SWFC site: Owls chairman Dave Allen has exclusively told swfc.co.uk that hestill believes the planning application to sell the club's trainingground for housing could be approved, even though Council officers haverecommended a rejection. The decision will be made be Sheffield City Council's North-WestArea planning board next Tuesday and Mr Allen is hopeful thatCouncillors will overturn the officers' recommendation and give thego-ahead for the sale to Bloor Homes.</p> The chairman told the official Sheffield Wednesday website: "Therehave been other applications which have gone the other way after beingplaced before the committee. It is interesting that three of the city'ssenior MPs - David Blunkett, Clive Betts and Angela Smith - are behindthe proposals and see no reason to refuse the application."</p> Mr Allen said the club have addressed the issues raised by planningofficers with regard to the plans: "There are one or two debatablepoints in the application," he admitted. "However, we have responded tothem and hopefully the planning committee will do what is in the bestinterests of the community at large.</p> "Incidentally, there have been a number of very controversialplanning applications around the city of late, especially in the TownHall area," he continued. "But eventually, when they are tweaked andfine-tuned, they achieve their goal."</p>Meanwhile, the chairman believes that the Owls' run of threeconsecutive league wins may have temporarily silenced his critics. Hesaid: "There is a minority around the club who will jump on anynegative aspect - we all know who they are. When Sheffield Wednesday dowell, as they did last week, you don't hear from them. They must beupset when we win.
