It was my first game on Saturday as I've been on holiday. There were a few strange things for me: 1. Not recognising most of the players. I've supported Barnsley for nearly 40 years, but never had to spend so long working out who was who. 2. Not knowing how much time was left. Didn't realise how often I must glance up at the scoreboard (especially when we're ahead). I had to keep taking my phone out my pocket to see what time it was, but wasn't exactly sure what time the second half had kicked off. 3. Finding that Potts and Williams looked like good players. I was expecting the worst, from reading about previous performances on here. They weren't flawless, but I thought they both played really well. Seems odd to me that some people on here are still saying they didn't look very good on Saturday - interesting how opinions differ.
It takes me a few games to get comfortable recognising our new players but this seems to be extending each season. I don't know if it is due to age, our transfer policy or a bit of both. Agree on the scoreboard, the only purpose it serves for me is the countdown. I agree re: Potts, he was very good on Saturday as were the whole team. Hammill was my MoM but it didn't surprise me that Potts won it.
