Barnsley Football Club is delighted to announce the permanent signing of Reyes Cleary from West Bromwich Albion, subject to EFL registration.

The 21-year-old forward has signed a three-year contract, keeping him at Oakwell until June 2028, with the Club holding the option to extend the deal by a further year. Cleary arrives in South Yorkshire with an exciting reputation, having risen through the youth ranks at West Brom and impressed during recent loan spells in the EFL and National League. A powerful and versatile attacker, he enjoyed a productive stint at Hartlepool United during the 2024/25 season, netting six goals in 20 appearances and showcasing his development in senior football. Cleary has also made his mark on the international scene, featuring twice for England’s U19s back in 2023.

Sporting Director, Mladen Šormaz, commented: “Reyes is a player we’ve been following closely. He fits what we’re looking for – young, hungry, technically capable and has the physicality required for the football we’ll play under Conor. He’s already shown what he can do at senior level, and we believe there is much more to come. This is a signing that excites us and reflects our continued focus on building a dynamic, progressive squad for the future.”

Head Coach, Conor Hourihane, added: “I’m thrilled to have Reyes on board. He’s got great attributes - pace, power, and a natural instinct in front of goal. He’s also versatile, which gives us different options across the front line. Most importantly, he’s shown a real desire to be here and be part of what we’re building at Barnsley.”

Reyes Cleary, speaking after putting pen to paper, said: “Yeah, I'm really excited to get going. When I found out I had interest from Barnsley, I was excited. “We’ve got a very young team. The manager trusts younger players.”

    Welcome to Oakwell, Reyes.
