Great achievement and a well deserved congratulations. Confused by all this celebrating and that though, have i missed something? Surely the country wouldnt be celebrating its first world cup since 66 if Scotland won the next one?
Absolutely brilliant. He's had a rough ride of it because he's a bit dour, but I think he's a credit to his family and to his sport. And a superb tennis player. Great stuff for Scottish and British sport.
Brilliant stuff. Knew he was going to win after his semi. Last year he was just pleased to make the final, this year he had total belief that he would win. Murray deserves every bit of success he gets. He has the most brutal training regime and he is totally committed to being the absolute best he possibly can be. He's a winner, and he'll keep winning. Well done lad
It's different in tennis to football though. In football the individual nations are rivals, that's not the case in tennis. When we play Davis Cup matches we compete as Great Britain, not as separate nations. Just like we do in Athletics or at the Olympics. When I'm watching the cycling at the Olympics I don't cheer on Bradley Wiggins, but ignore Chris Hoy. I support them both equally because they represent Great Britain. The fact that one was brought up 100s of miles away in London while the other was brought up 100s of miles away in Edinburgh makes no difference to me. They're just British athletes I like to see do well. As is Andy Murray.
I watch all the grand slams, I'm one of those evil beings that subscribes to sky sports! I was confident he'd win today as he's improved so much over the last three years. Ivan Lendl has played a big part in getting the best out of him IMHO
Absolutely. And the fact that I'm friends with Chris Hoy's sister and that she could easily pound me into the ground if I voiced any dissent doesn't even come into it.
Absolutely bl**dy brilliant performance, he barely gave Djokovic a chance to play his game, and kept finding ways to land the bigger blows. What a way to break the curse! I could hardly watch the last set I was so nervous for him, stood in the room doorway watching that last game through my fingers and (I'm not ashamed to say) a few tears. A truly magnificent day for British sport, I feel sorry for anyone that can't enjoy it for what it is. Enjoy your immortality Mr Murray, you've earned it.
Agree. Think he'll be in a great position to win one of the next two grand slams. If i could choose it would be the Aussie Open because simply he hasn't won that yet. Think if he get's that second serve on track and it needs improving a lot he could challenge on Clay.
http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/...ruelling-off-season-regime-that-makes-1490721 10 x 400m sprints with 1 minute rest between them. And that's just a small part of one day.
Aussie not til January but as you say would be good to win a different event. Hope he manages all four before the end of his career
Gruelling stuff, Becker was talking earlier about the huge amount of work Murray's done over the past few years to be able to outlast any opponent on court, certainly looks like it's paid off!
Yes, it mentioned the time he spends in Miami in that Documentary on BBC and i've also listened to the guys on sky about it too. One player he once trained with out there said he was that tired that he was struggling to get to sleep on a night. Sounds odd because been tired normally makes you sleep. Must have gone past just been tired...
