BFC - and more specifically a certain Mr Patrick Cryne - have been slated mercilessly ever since the infamous 'Box Office ' players comment. Only Mr Cryne will ever really know if he genuinely meant it at the time but misjudged how much they would cost - or whether it was just a bit of crafty premeditated spin to sell season tickets. However, lets compare this close season to last. No promises this time, no spin, no ‘signings’ who then go to someone else at the last minute. A Board and Manager united in common aims and objectives....................perhaps BFC have learnt the lessons of last year? I don’t know much about any of the 3 signings today - they could be good - or turn out to be a complete waste of time. However, hats off to the Club for only announcing a signing when they are done deal and not making false promises…........... .................and shame on all the Davey haranguers who are so petty minded to even deny the guy an holiday.
Johnson proven at this level and higher, Kayde will get goals im certain and Burma well we'll wait and see So far so good in my eyes
.........my point is forget about whether the signings are good or bad. That is totally, totally irrelevant. The real issue is the club has made no promises and therefore broken no promises. To me that’s very, very commendable. A certain ego circa 15 -20 miles away from the tarn with his brand new 15,000 (Yes, 15,000!….yawn, we took more to Anfield in 1982) stadium, his lofty ambitions, his arrogance (the middle aged has been even appeared in a game for his club in some Sunday League match they once played in) - is after all our second rate country bumpkin cousins. The man can’t accept that he will never ever be in our league never mid challenging the Sheffield clubs. Mr Ryan - this was achieved by a passionate fan base, genuine real time progression and thrifty directorship. Please take note. One game, one love, one tarn.
Re: Well Done BFC.............................Yes........very much AGREED !!! And what a difference a season makes This time last season we had Andy bleeding Ritchie telling us "my boys are good enough for this league" (doh) (doh) (doh) Its nice just to sit back and know that the problems on the pitch are going to be sorted out - or at least attempted to be sorted out
No we didnt This time last year (14/6/06) the official site said that Andy ritchie had missed out on his target Michael Chopra so no, you're wrong, at this time last year he didn't say that his boys were good enough and that he didnt want to sign anyone. 14.06.2006 Inside Oakwell REDS MISS OUT ON CHOPRA AS CARDIFF SWOOP AGAIN Barnsley boss Andy Ritchie has missed out on Newcastle United star Michael Chopra after the striker agreed to join Cardiff City. Oh and he is just one of the MANY players that the OFFICIAL site announced we had tried to sign. Take for example the Aston villa player that the official site announced was "out of our price range" despite the managers wishes to sign him.
Spot on, would also add to that.. about the piece Ryan wrote recently in the Yorkshire post. Basically he said that in recent years they had arguably been the most successful club outside the Premiership. Err excuse me Mr. Ryan, but how can your success compare with a Championship side being promoted to the Premiership. You won a cup that is EXCLUSIVELY for LOWER LEAGUE TEAMS, and you've climbed to the dizzy heights of League 1 (division 3) Last season you failed in your 'destination Championship' quest finishing a mediocre mid table. They have lost millions, continue to do so, and need an average of 9000 just to break even. Unless they take the league by storm next season, that's never going to happen.
RE: Spot on, would also add to that.. much as I don't like him he has put his money where his mouth is.
Would also like to add I heard that he talks out of his arse. Does that mean that he stuck his money down the back of his trousers?
Agreed, but we reds fans know only too well... what happens when illusions of Grandeur fail to materialise. The seasons following our relagaiton from the prem. and we had the crowds to back them.
