He has been a great champion but was there for the taking today. I think Roddick will look back and kick himself for the way he bottled the second set tie break, totally out of character and out of kilter with the way he played the rest of the match.
RE: Why can't you stand him.. For the first and only time I have to agree with E.I Addio Great Champion and comes across as a very humble person
I am astounded at the way some people dont like winners! Yet want Barnsley to win every game, them they can slag off the better players, ie, Howard. I think everyone should strive to be the best, never settle for anything less and keep pushing themselves till they achieve it. Some players, no matter what sport, will never be the number one , but if they strive to get better, then that is all they can do. Others just go into a comfort zone and become lazy. Federer is one of, if not the best players of all time, a champion on every surface.
For a man with such an obvious winning mentality He comes across, to me anyway, as a very humble person.
Congrats to him but I have to say I was hoping Roddick would win. Federer is a decent bloke but he does seem a little characterless. Roddick though, I have seen a few times doing interviews outside of the tennis world and he seems like a real good lad. But he was a fair winner and has to be the best player ever. I would love to have seen him against Sampras in his pomp.
He seems like a great bloke Wanted A Rod to win just for someone else to win it, but fair play, can't argue with Fed.
