I know they beat Yorkshire but they have done brilliantly to beat Surrey to win the One Day Cup. I saw the tail end of both innings. Gloucester were very unlucky to lose their last wicket to a very bad decision. Dernbach got his hat trick with that ball which was missing leg by quite a distance according to Hawk Eye. However, Gloucesteshire came back to get 3 quick wickets of their own at the end to win by 6 runs. It is nice to see an u fancied team winning .

Cricket season over, all bar the shouting. Now I can concentrate on the footy, not that the comments on here encourage me much.

As you might know if you have seen my posts on the subject before, I used to see quite a bit of Gloucestershire when I lived down there. They have been an excellent one day side for many years and it didn't surprise me one jot when they won at Headingley.

Well done to them for lifting the trophy. They are one of the smaller county clubs but they keep on putting out decent sides. I used to love watching Courtney Walsh smashing balls into Jack Russell's gloves. Many batsmen just didn't know how to cope with him!

Thanks a bit of a coincidence. I lived in Bristol as a student for 3 years in the early 70's and then worked briefly at BAC at Filton. I went to Nevil Road a few times and played football for the Poly on the pitch behind the Ashley Down end. I saw a few John Player games including a tie against Hampshire in '72. I attended the evening sessions of the game against Yorkshire when Boycott, Hampshire and Lumb (I think) all got tons. Our lads were 2 wickets short of a win in 2 days. I was last there to see England lose a 1 day game against Bangaladesh.

I was later than you. Moved to Gloucester in 1986 and lived there for just over 20 years, apart from the three in Germany when we rented the house out, then went back to it. Saw Yorkshire at Bristol and quite a few times at the Cheltenham Festival. I think they loved Yorkshire going there because they always got a good crowd for the one day match and the county game.

Favourite memory was seeing Richie Richardson (during his brief Yorkshire period) slamming a big six onto the roof of the college gymnasium. Tremendous hit at the time. Mind you, if Aaron Finch was playing then he would have beaten that easily!
