If someone uses reasonable force as self defence, they should not face prosecution.

    Great post

You're right they would have thrown the book at him. The older generation must have wondered why they fought a war for this country.9 Yes - know this was in Germany!) They might have thought twice if they'd have known how it would have turned out.

Some old folks are poorly off, but many are better off now than they have ever been, based on older folks that I know

It just shows you have to be very careful who you pick a fight with.
I have a mate who is an ex Royal Marine and SBS, to look at him he's just a short, bald 69 year old. He was in Cyprus recently and had to keep quiet about the fact that he was part of a unit who were just 2 minutes away from kidnaping Archbishop Macarios(sic) during troubles there.

    Vitriol aside

    I'd have to agree.

This place is a damn sight better than the early sixties / late fifties, except for the inner city, religiously polarised ghettos.

    Not a bit !!

    Massive unemployment

    Massive debt

    Poxy unions running the country

Dirty cold and damp places to live

    etc ... etc....

I suppose it's what you remember from the time based on the conditions you had but no, it's better now than then.

A mate of mine is a liverpool fan, after a derby game with everton, police made him get onto a train that was full of everton thugs. He tried to explain that he was a Liverpool fan and it wasn't a good idea for him to get onto that train, but police pushed him on and the train set off.

To look at him you would think he is just a small portly type of guy, when he is infact one of the top teachers of ninjitsu in the country.

After a while the everton fans set about him so he defended himself, putting twelve of them in hospital.

Later the case got laughed out of court.
