Amir is getting better and better very quick and very fit. Just needs to be able to land a bit heavier. well done Amir.
Khan doesn't have the same power as Manny and wouldn't knock Ricky out. Khan was impressive fighting on the backfoot last night, but only managed two clear punches the whole fight. He'd land more against Ricky, but would also be under twice as much pressure. Losing to the p4p number one is completely different to being put in the ring with a young lad who will be vacating his new world title after just one defence.
RE: Khan doesn't have the same power as Manny No he's nowt near Pacman but I think Hatton would make a big mistake carrying on against Khan. His punch resistance has gone and he should retire.
His punch resistance has gone because he was knocked out? Those punches would have knocked any fighter in the division out, not just a 'shot' Hatton. He isn't the Hatton of old, and his popularity made him a better fighter than he actually was, but for people to suggest Khan would walk all over him is a massive insult. The reason he lost so badly to Manny was a) he wasn't good enough - simple as b) he didn't have a game plan c) he probably had his worst training camp in 40 plus fights.
RE: His punch resistance has gone because he was knocked out? Pacman didn't knock De La Hoya spark out and he won't knock Mayweather in 2 or 3 rounds. I don't think he would have knocked a younger Hatton over as quick either.
With the punch that knocked ricky hatton out He would have knocked any light welterweight in the world out, it was ferocious! Difference with hatton and mayweather, nobody has ever got anywhere near close to landing anything as full on as that on mayweathers chin, he's just too good.
For what it's worth... ...I don't think Hatton's lifestyle or boxing style were ever suited to a long career. He has nothing to prove, so I don't think he should fight on. I do think that khan would be too fast for him and stop him. Hatton has been in steady decline since he beat Kostya Tszyu, which in my opinion ranks as one of the best performances by a British fighter in any era.
Agree with the lifestyle comment Ricky has already had 40 plus fights, a world champion at 2 different weights, and twice at light welter. Nothing to prove, but he wouldn't get knocked out by khan. I hope he retires, but my only argument is with people who say his punch resistance has gone - where's the evidence? The shots manny caught him with were emphatic! Regarding his fight with kostya, as good as it was, and as good as it still is, that was a boxer coming to the end of his career, who'd only fought once in 18 months (against an over rated zeb Juddah), and was there to be taken by someone as hungry and motivated as hatton.
RE: Hatton would get knocked out again and would murder Kahn cos the ruski last night if he could have hi harder would have KOd Kahn!!
Mayweather also stopped Hatton. he is on the decline and has been for a couple of years Khan is getting better and against Hatton he would not have to fight like he did last night. Kotelnik has NEVER been put down and always comes into a fight 100% fit and ready. Hatton has the wrong lifestyle to have a long career. I know he has been champ at 2 weights and twice at light welter, but he had a lot of easy fights as well, especially when he was with Warren. I cannot see how Hatton would beat Khan, maybe only way is to hit him early, but not very likely, in my opinion. Hatton has been a good fighter, but he should not fight again. I think even Witter would trouble Hatton.
He didnt hit Khan enough to beat him, Khan is a lot better fighter than most of the numpties on here think. He can change his style to suit the opposition. If you think that Khan would have got KO`d then you are living in cuckoo land. I said after Prescott fight Khan would be champ inside 18 months , he really is that good.
RE: He didnt hit Khan enough to beat him, Hat off to Khan last night. His best performance so far against a very game opponent. I thought Khan looked in control of 95% of the fight and fought a fight that he isn't used to fighting so I was impressed. Telling to see that he was quick to mention Roach at ringside after the fight. Before Roach got hold of him he didn't look capable of stepping up to the top level but he has turned him into a good prospect at world level. I still think his chin will mean he will lose the odd fight. I doubt he will ever lose on points.
