At the turn of the year I wanted Managerial change. I like LJ but poor first half season performance by him. With continued uninspiring performances, poor run of results, we were sat in relegation places and no sign of change. Allelujah, he changed it! Started playing 2 up top. The players look more comfortable in 4-4-2. Consistent team selections, all have bread condidence and goals and results have followed. The addition of Hammill has been the turning point. His influence is clear to see. A class footballer, adding much needed character, quality and creativity to a young side. Still can't understand how Wabara was picked ahead of Bree. And why some players were not given opportunities e.g Jackson. But onwards an upwards. Lets keep it going. Yesterday it was great to see Winnall and Watkins have formed a solid partnership. Likewise Long & Mawson. Hammill and Isgrove have pace, flair and creativity on the wings. Davies and Connor Hourihane both solid. Bree looked quality and reads game well. Williams adapted well to left back role, did well. Brownhill looked comfortable in the middle, linked play and supported attack. And great to see Scowen back in the side. I still think we need to add a few more. The squad is a bit thin especially in defensive and midfield if injuries strike. IMHO what we need are 2-3 more influential characters. A central defender and defensive minded midfielder are a must. It would be good to see Long stay until at least the end of the season. Same said for Fletcher. And if offers came in I would let Naytanga go. And retain Winnall and Hourihane. Perhaps out of reach but Paddy Madden is one player I would love to see in a reds shirt. Hardworking, can play wing or forward and consistently scores at this level. As for midfield someone like Jay Tabb from Ipswich, experienced influential midfielder would fit the bill.
