Lower tier tickets are £20, the vermin fans can't moan at those prices but they will say they could've sold out 5 times over as they're such a massive Euroean Cup winning team. Looks like the Citeh fans boycott at ticket prices at Arsenal may have had some effect. £62 is ridiculous http://www.london24.com/sport/arsenal/arsenal_freeze_ticket_prices_after_man_city_backlash_1_1832150
Have you seen the banner that the Liverpool fans have for tonight? If they get it into the ground is a different matter.
No not seen it, was does it say on the banner. Are they complaining about the extra work they've had to put into robbing to afford a ticket
Haha!!!! Says something like 'Working class game, business class prices' and a drawing of a scally with his pockets turned out
Fair play to the Scouse fans for making their point... but they've still paid the money to attend! Only way to protest effectively is to not buy the tickets. Empty seats will eventually bring prices lower.
But what has it achieved a price freeze so cites fans will still pay £62 a ticket next year. Obscene pricing in current climate
A price freeze is better than a price hike. I'm sure other fans will read what has happened and maybe more will boycott games due to these ridiculous prices clubs keep on expecting fans to pay, especially in the current financial climate. I know several Barnsley fans from Wakefield who have not attended our fixture at Elland Road because of the price and the no concessions for pensioners. Prices haven't come down because of it as it wasn't an organised boycott. Maybe the Supporters Trust could look at an organised boycott to let Leeds know what we are doing. I've seen a lot post on here that they don't go to that fixture because of the cost. Unless you speak out you don't get heard. I dont agree with you saying it hasn't achieved much by the fans boycotting, it's better that the City fans did what they did and got the media involved rather than just saying I'm not going and leaving it at that. If they hadn't created all the negative press for Arsenal next seasons prices could have been rounded up to £65, so in my opinion they did achieve something. It's all about people power Owen!!
I'm not sure how many fans City took to QPR last night at £55 a ticket, but I saw on SSN that tickets for the home stands where priced between £52-£70.
Banner? You want to try getting this in a ground:- http://rt.com/sport/football/russia-poland-extremist-banner-706/
I've not been to L***s for years because of the cost. I've missed some great performances by us, because as we all now if we played L***s every week we would be in the play-offs if not in the top 2. I'm just not paying such inflated prices to a rival club. The last time I went we won 2-1 with a winner from Owen Archdeacon. Says it all, been too expensive since.
If we played Leeds every week, we'd be real European Champions not pretend ones! P.S the first goal in that game was scored by one of my favourites Brendan O'Connell. Super sub night
And I named my dog Archie (RIP) after Owen. Those were the days. I think those days are coming back mind, L***s can no longer attract the players their fans want. They all go to Norwich instead. WElcome to the real world L***s, can we play you every week?
Your Dad told me you used to support Leeds as a lad and you were obsessed with Billy Bremner, big poster on the wall apparently.
Yes. It was great last time......And by the way my meteor was on Look L***s just now, so I'm not going dalmally.
I told you not to queue jump when all those large women were waiting for their kebab meat and chips with garlic sauce, but would you listen
One of the nobs on Talksport annoyed me with this argument, can't remember his name but he's on after Keys and Gray - said why should Arsenal lower their prices if they are getting a full stadium every week. That really isn't the point. The point is the prices are out of reach of most working class fans who at one point were the core of the support, at least up to the mid-90's. The atmosphere you get at games these days is far different to what I remember up until the end of the 90's, the fans were a lot screamier and generally had a lot more passion for the game and the club they were supporting. Even at Oakwell, it's something of a fashion show with a lot of fans sporting designer glasses, scarves and expensive looking jackets all with a "middle-management" kind of look about them. It's the northern clubs that suffer as the increase in ticket prices have far outweighed any increase in salary but genuine hardcore fans will be suffering all over the country. Arsenal have been highlighted because of the ridiculously high price but prices are far too high across the board. Look at Brighton - I'd imagine that there are at least few thousand fans who supported them through the dark days of the last two decades who simply can't afford to go to the Amex. I fear it's something we'll have to live with though and I can't see working class salaries ever catching up to the increases as the tickets will just keep on getting expensive. If you take tax into account, a minimum wage earner is going to have to work almost five hours to pay for 90 minutes "entertainment" at Oakwell. The economics just don't work. I'm not going to slag the tickets prices off though, the club has done well to bring them down, the problem is with football in general.
