Considering the quality of the opposition, their style of football, and our lack of numbers/options at present. Our fullbacks, and their respective performances were always going to be key for us today, up against a pair of flyers in Phillips and Ince. And IMO, Golbourne was outstanding, and is starting to look a proper player in a 'problem' position for us in recent years. On the other side, young Stones continues to perform at a level well above his years. I think after seeing him play a fair amount of times now, it's safe to assume we DO have another talented youth on our hands. I think Mellis is finding his feet/fitness now, and whilst it's far too early to suggest he's going to be as good as the other 'Jacob', the early signs are promising. And Cywka needs a contract extension putting in front of him asap. Taking the Brighton thumping away, it's been a very positive start for us. Level on points with the MIGHTY (Leeds) and the MASSIVE (Wednesday), yet to play a perceived 'poor' side, with half our squad on the treatment table. Positive indeed. Things don't get any easier for us though, with a trip to top of the table Blackburn midweek. And then Birmingham at St. Andrews, live on Sky... Anyhoo, lovely weather, decent performance, good point, and some key players on their way back at long last. Up The Tarn!
I concur fully, and as such, I've been forced to devour numerous bottles of Coors Light. (Not a real ale man yet).
I don't mind Coors Light, but tonight I'll be drinking cans of Holsten Pils. At £3.80 a four-pack, much like today's prices at Oakwell, they're a bargain.
I wonder how many Barnsley folk will have taken up the Holsten offer. Fecking armchair drinkers. Will be sat there with their Peroni and Asahi.
A very respectable draw today. Blackpool will murder loads of teams with the way they play. We are punching well above our weight. The players and the manager deserve huge amounts of credit. If only we can sort things out away from home....
And 2 tough games on the road to come. This time next week, we'll (as fans) either be crowing about a playoff push, or moaning about our impending relegation battle. Love it.
