Just over 7k if you are being generous. but the STs are counted whether they turn up or not. So the ground could be empty and the attendance would be quoted at 7.5k
Why are the STs counted? It can't be that hard to get an accurate number using these here flashy season pass bleepers.
Not sure but can only suggest it is a guideline they have to follow? Cant be tax related because the VAT on STs must be paid in the tax period in which the sale took place. The tax date of a transaction is the date of payment or the date on a VAT invoice, whichever is earlier.
Like all sporting/entertainment venues you count tickets sold not attendees. After all you can't resell that ticket.
The attendance is the number of attendees. Ticket sales is the number of tickets sold. It's the attendance that's announced during each game which isn't going to be the same as the number of tickets sold. Can't work out what we have to gain by saying there's more there than actually is.
H It's just standard practice not specific to Oakwell. I went to a 'sold out' gig the other night it was about 3/4 quarters full.
There's a difference between sold out and attendance isn't there? Sold out says all tickets are sold, 9500 attendance says 9500 attended. At oakwell its possible to have a sell out (23000) but due to bad weather only 12 people turn up. Heyd be quite right to call it a sell out but wrong to say the attendance is 23000.
Like I say not specific to Oakwell. As I remember it the FA did some research that said between 5 and 10 percent of season ticket holders will be missing at any given home game But they are always counted.
PC & BM explained how it all works at the No7 meeting. They unattending ST holders are counted in the attendance. I had 6 spares on me yesterday for starters!
Thats absolutely stupid though. So if no one at all turned up for a game and the ground was totally empty, theyd announce that the attendance was 7500 or whatever the season ticket sales are.. They are just announcing a meaningless number at the end of each game. Idiots
They explain how they lie about the attendance but did they say why they lie about it? What do they gain by lying to the customers and announcing a fake attendance figure?
The only true attendance figures are the ones for FA Cup games because season ticket holders have to buy their own seat.
