And a crap, pretty spineless performance. Don't give me any ballax about the wind, because the wind only really affects long high balls. Blackpool did nothing and came for a 0-0 with the hope of nicking one on the off chance, which they did. Was deja vu from the Southampton game in particular. We had ONE proper shot on goal, Hammill's near the end that was tipped over. He tested the keeper twice more but one was a cross and one a wickedly deflected effort. Everyone else hang your heads in shame. What a load of rubbish, I was bored rigid.
To my mind we should've come out of the blocks fast, not letting them settle defensively, and been peppering their goal 1st half with the wind (mostly) behind us. Tactical mistake for me, up there with punting up to Mifsud and his 2 giant markers, with Boggy 10-20yds back not causing trouble. I wonder if the team would apply themselves more early on if the crowd welcomed & encouraged them more? Despite the player "interviews" on the club website asking for vociferous support, our fans only get going if we attack well and win a corner down the Ponty End. The opposition look far too comfortable coming to Oakwell these days. (furious)
It was a very good effort that Rachubka tipped wide/over - but it was fading away so it might have hit the post/drifted just wide.
was that the one towards the ponty? It was curling to the right and was going about 4 or 5 yards wide?
RE: was that the one towards the ponty? Wasn't going that far wide I don't think but it was just missing.
RE: Wouldn't you agree that I don't know, but if we're happy at drawing at home to relegation rivals when we've got loads of tough away games coming up then it's no wonder we're down there.
I'd say that the management of both teams were happy with a point But that the fans of both teams will have very different views. Blackpool have maintained a gap between us and them and have picked up a point away from home. We have failed to take advantage of being the home team and close the gap on our relegation rivals. The problem is that our fans believe we need to win game to stay up, Davey seems happy to play out the remaining 10 games trying to get 1 point from each would (before yesterdays disaster) give us 51 points. Above the mythical magic 50. He's also counting on the fact that in amongst those 11 draws would be the odd lucky 1-0 win somewhere along the line which will counter any losses we suffer and hopefully give us around 55 points. very negative tactics to play out a season going for 0-0 draws and with the objective of scraping through again.
To be honest i'm not a very good judge of how far things are going to go wide when them pesky keepers get in the way and touch them
