If the paper, bottles cardboard and cans all get put in their respective containers, the grey bin generally has enough room, and there's 4 adults at our house. No need for rats an stuff if you keep the lid flat so nowt can get in. Had no big probs over the hot weather. It's just a case of gerrin used to things.

Went to visit a friend in SE England, who still has just the one black bag per week and has to buy her own bin. She was having problems with rubbish, so I got down to it, a bit like them two birds, Aggie and the other one, and sorted out all her wine bottles, cans and paper away from the bin. She ended up wi enough room for rubbish and took the cans, paper and glass to a nearby recycle centre next to her local Safeway - easy!

She thanked me profusely and I moved on to my next humanity saving quest.

Get a grip everybody - it's your own rubbish. There's people in Africa would be glad of what you can't get in your grey bins. Sort it and stop whingeing!

Council trying to avoid being fined!!!

EC fines for failing to meet recycling targets, if imposed, will be paid by Council Tax payers.

Agreed...but we're in for BIG trouble if the council cease with the green bin collection over the winter period - as they did last year........
