It's certainly possible - only just below Norwich on GD at the moment. Making the middle third would be steady progress on paper at least and there's no doubt we we've been distracted by the cup run (we were 20th best in each of January, February and March) and unlucky with long-term injuries otherwise we could well be a little higher. Just looking through some stats and we've not been in the bottom 3 since the opening week and spent 3 weeks in the play-off spots. We're 3rd in terms of not losing points when ahead but having the worst away record in the division is what has really costs us. Thank God we've hopefully put that behind us psychologically with the two away wins. There's no doubt we lost our way for a bit there but it looks from a distance that we're heading in the right direction. The away form needs addressing but if those same players are doing the business at home (games against Sheffield sides excluded) then this seems more like a tactical and/or psychological issue than a personnel one. It's something Davey's got to get sorted quickly next season as we go for my 2008-2009 target: a top half finish! Nice to be looking forward to next season this morning while there are 5 clubs below us who are still sweating over the end of this one.
Last season there looked to be a difference in class when we played some teams, but this season I don't think any team have totally outclassed us. Some steady progression that has not being appreciated enough this season.
