Not.
Struggling to find any positives from that game
Hudds seemed more up-for-it and hungry, whereas we were not.
Seemed more than the 16,000 though. Ponty full, East Stand almost full. About 4000 away fans, and whatever was in the West Stand, which seemed quite full from where I was sitting.
Hoping for an away win next week, but I'm not too hopeful.

Only empty seats (apart from the 1500 in their end) was the North end of the West Stand which wasn't sold - do you think we are keeping some cash back so we don't have to put all in the pot?
Lots of empty seats in the Eaststand. But certainly would have said there were more than 16000 there.
Fudged figure So many cash sales, there was plenty of scope for not declaring all of it for tax purposes.
Hmmm, I watched the game on Sky in a semi-deserted leisure centre in Dover on me tod and I gotta admit that I'm sure thet the staff and patrons thought I was barmy. That was frankly a wake up call. We aren't good enough to go up and I thought that when we were we lucky to get a draw at Oakwell in December. Still it didn't stop Wednesday last season..... The Galpharm away says to me "lets throw everything into the mix and see what happens". We have the skill to get us through this. Hudds are THAT good and I think we have the more skilled individuals in our squad, we have just gotta be 100% braver than we were tonight. Iffff we don't make it (which we probably wont.... sorry) I would use this match as a good test case to weed out the wheat from the chaff. I am surprising myself here but I think we stand a good chance of promotion next year providing we 1. Get two half decent striker (bleedin' obvious sorry) 2. replace shuker who was unable to respond to the fact that he was identified as a threat and marked outta the game 3 replace these defenders... Heckinbottom... (sorry i know he is committed and not that bad-a-player but I'm afraid he's not good enough to get you promoted and one from Reid and Kay... there are always gonna be forwards like Booth to challenge for desperate balls into the box in this division. what you need is someone of the ilk (sorry for using the word ilk) of Ian Evans or Mick Mccarthy to command your six yard box. We were cringeworthy at times in defence. We deserve to have been beaten tonight. Ouch! Argh big hairy cobblers!
The sad thing is, Shuker wasn't marked out of the game. He ran towards their players when there was tons of space to run into. It was almost as though he didn't want the ball passing to him. Congatulations on using "cringeworthy", by the way.
RE: I thought 'ilk' was commendable.. Stop it! I'm somehow finding solace in the use of cheesy phraseology. (Sorry I used the word solace on purpose there!) The thing is... we are a pretty fantastic club and when everything gels.... which it sometimes does... we are pretty damned good! (yeah ok... I felt the need to drink a few pints to make sure the staff at Dover Leisure Centre didn't switch channels to Britains Favoutite Animals or whatever is on ITV2, but hey!) We can still pull this off somehow! I reckon! and moreso... think of all the other 91 clubs in the league and whether you would rather support them or the super reds!!! eh!?! and well... think of the good times.... Glavin, Ward, Redfearn, Hendry, Gwynn Thomas (who?? some might ask, heheheh... at least Paul Hart or Nigel Spackman or poor ol' stooge Stevie Parkin isn't still in charge. Amen to that!
There you go again..using "solice" and all that I am with you through all those glorious names and back even further, they will come back, that's the beauty of this stupid game...Golf...now there's another stupid game, you should try not getting frustrated about that if you possibly can...supporting the Super Reds is just a walk in the park.
RE: There you go again..using "solice" and all that I'll close me dictionary now... but I reckon that that we stand more of a chance on Monday than if we were a club who had played to our full potential tonight and still got whooped. I'm not saying that we will win in the second leg.... we don't deserve it to be fair... but we might just pull off something flukey. We are one of the few sides in this pitiful division who can throw together a team who can play football beyond the sum of the total parts (or whatever) hey... its possible... its only one poxy goal and yeah they deserved to beat us hmmmm 4-1 tonight but they didn't. So whats to stop us smashing and grabbing. Damned play-offs are just a lottery anyway eh?
