well done Whitey on coming across as a fair minded Tyke and remaining civil.

Just think their entire show is about the "big 2".Even Seth Bennett was patronising to a Donny fan by saying they are punching above their weight and would relegation be such a bad thing.

Totally biased towards 2 clubs in my opinion despite them both being in the 3rd tier of English football and 2 other local teams are in a higher division.

Will get my BFC info off here permanently now.

I particularly liked Seth's summing up of Coventry; did he actually mean Barnsley but couldn't say so? No he wouldn't do that.

Well that's me done listening to Radio Sheffield..

Thanks Jack/Doubletake. Im glad it came across okay. I was in a pretty agitated state by the time I got put thru.
As im sure ppl are aware on ere, im not a fan of what goes on at that radio station. There is a clear bias toward the 2 clubs from Sheffield. And whilst being based in the city (and named after it), that is totally wrong.
Its a BBC station thats meant to cover the whole of South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire (Chesterfield). The regions license-fee paying public fund the station, and its programming and employees. Therefore, IMO as 1 of its 'customers' I am entitled to expect a reasonable level of equality regarding coverage.
I am though, quite aware that Sheffield has the biggest number of listeners. They also have in sporting terms, 2 clubs to serve. And 2 clubs that are historically more fashionable/successful, than the other 4 clubs in our region. So because of those reasons I have no qualms with the station favouring Sheffield slightly. But the 'favouring' is neither slight, nor fair.
Ive tuned into the station for years. I have a fantastic memory. And over those years the presenters of the Football Heaven and Praise or Grumble shows, have tried to validate their Sheffield nepotism.
For instance, I remember Paul Walker once telling a Reds fan that with the 2 Sheffield clubs being in the higher divisions, it was natural that they would get most of the coverage (live commentary and such like).
The Reds fan said he could understand that, but doubted whether that stance would be taken if Barnsley and Doncaster were a division above the Sheffield clubs.
Walker attested that indeed the same principle would be employed. That they would get more of the coverage.
But I still remember his tone when he said this. He gave the impression that such an event was highly unlikely. In fact his words were something like "If that was the case, and lets be honest, its a big if, then of course we would have to cover them more."
Basically, it was an easy statement to make back then. We hadnt been back up long, and I think United were having their season in the Premier League sun. To him, a known Unitedite it was unlikely to happen.
But as we all know, it has happened. And their coverage is as biased as its ever been.
    7 live games for UNITED
    6 for WEDNESDAY
    2 for the Reds...
    . .
But as I say, I couldnt allow myself - however much I wanted to - to attack them when I spoke last nite.
In the future maybe. But the £16 message needed making.

It really wouldn't surprise me if Seth saw us as a lame dog that should be put down because if that’s what he thinks about Coventry then it stands to reason that we mean the same to him (based purely on his own criteria). I just don’t understand how being relegated can be better than surviving even if it is only just surviving. I think it p1sses him off that the two dee dar giants are in league 1 and little old Barnsley and Donny are in the championship. Would he love it if we were relegated - I believe he would.

If us and Coventry are lame dogs does that make the Sheff 2 massive lame pigs?

I don't listen to it so can't comment, but I do find it frustrating that coverage of the Reds on lacal radio is so dire. Player is great and I understand that the commentary should remain on there for financial reasons but even our local station show zero interest in the club. I would listen to Dearne FM much more often if they had regular reports and features on the club. I mean they only do score updates about once every 20 mins when the team are playing.

All down to broadcasting rights though Mike. Independant regional radio stations all have annual budgets. I doubt BFC match coverage is high on their agenda.

I know mate. I understand that but they could run features, interviews, build up to kick off, regular score updates, after match reaction surely? I don't know anything about radio broadcasting but I would like to think they could make more out of the club locally on dearne FM.

I hear your point mate. But as I said previously, BBC Radio Sheffield covers our region. And me, you and everybody else with a TV, pays a license fee. Therefore, I shouldnt have to hope that Dearne FM do anything Red related. Im paying toward a BBC service, and getting a bum deal.
When I get my new PC or Laptop, then maybe a subscription to Player makes sense.

I totally agree regarding Radio Sheff. I was just making the point also that Dearne FM should do more features on the club. There is nothing stopping Dearne FM running a phone in twice a week (pre-game and post game). I'd listen.

With Twitter and this bb(for rumors and gossip) and Barnsley player for interviews, quotes, highlights, etc, etc, there really is no reason to listen to radio deedah, and I don't.

Oh come on! I make a special effort when one of the two massive clubs get thrashed, cheers me up no end. Two reasons to listen tonight!

Got to count as a suitable reason right?

    i don't mind the "bias"
when i do listen, its ok to hear about the other local clubs, something to talk about with work mates the next day + its fun to listen to the moans and those who sound like total numpties.

what i don't understand is the amount of moans about lack of talk about us on FH & P'o'G....ring up! they cant surely ignore because you're a tarn fan, or even just say you're a deedar.
if you think bbc sheffield is bad take a look at "yorkshire radio" thats advertised as a whole county, biggest in england, yet it looks like a leeds united fan blog

Yorkshire Radio is owned by Leeds United so that's not surprising!

Yorkshire Radio is Ken Bates Radio. Even the Leeds fans hate it.
