Val’s got to go now if what I read is true, that he puts his “style” of playing down to having **** players. WBA can get ready then, and who knows, we might see some actual football this coming season.
Been widely reported as the reason for the vertical football. Accept our defenders - Mads in particular - are fairly poor on the ball, but the bulk of this side were put together for their footballing ability. Val plays this way because that's what he does.
Ismael is a boot it manager. Even if we had Brentford’s squad he’d still boot it. That’s a fcukking fact on a stick. I’m not slagging him off here btw. Hoofing it won us shiz loads of games last season.
What a load of cobblers. We have some excellent players. Just watch the season highlights and some of the goals were top class.
It was on the rolling news feed that pops up on my phone when I fire it up. It was by a Birmingham journo defending the appointment. I’ll try to find it, but I don’t know about linking it, that might be beyond me
Can’t quote it, but it said a “close Barnsley “ source (Which I think we know what that means) was implying that VI played his way because BFC players weren’t very good. He was kind of saying that WBA needn’t worry about their team playing like that.
PS, I don’t disagree with the statement. I think most fans have a tacit understanding that other teams have better players than us, and our success has been due to fitness and the system, rather than talent. I just found it disconcerting that this was in the public domain.
Rather watch our style of play than the backwards and sideways crap churned out by England's "superstars" on Friday night.
I agree & if Val does move on I hope his successor plays a similar style , I much prefer it the boring tippy tappy tripe we have tried to play in the past .
I think thats the only good thing if val goes, the fact that the owners ideology is the high pressing game and a manager will be selected to implement it, probably another relatively unknown foreigner but i can,t really knock the managerial recruitment by the owners so far...
I read the same article, think it was some interview on the West brom site ,it said he only played that style here because of the quality of players
He's always said that.. some people just don't listen or hear what they want. This is a man who played for Bayern Munich. Or as the hatchet job started already... He was always **** anyway mantra.
You can play high press without stone age football. Hecky, Stendel and Struber all seemed to have manage it. Rather than point to England's poor performance, why not cite as an example Germany's style against Portugal? Constructive and expansive. No one told Danny Wilson we couldn't win that way either, or Allan Clarke, or Norman Hunter.
